You could argue Benteke wasn't replaced. Struggle to see how you can argue that our best players weren't replaced when we spent decent money on the impressive Gana who plays in Delph's position and bought in Micah Richards who is clearly a massive upgrade on Vlaar.

If for no other reason than he actually plays rather than watching from the physio table.

Benteke wasn't replaced properly, that's clear, but a big part of the problem is that Sherwood continued to play as if Benteke was in the team rather than trying to find a style that suited a more balanced squad that had used the money to buy 4-5 players.

Personally I feel sorry for sherwood , he did well last season and was always tough when our best players leave and weren't properly replaced.
I just hope he doesn't slag the club down now in the press.

He seemed pretty happy doing that as an employee so my guess is he will continue to do just that. Probably via the mouths of other people, but still.

Lack of humanity means Sherwood won't learn from his mistakes and never ever get a better job. His way in media will see him on TV soon and thats where he should stay but he's somewhat arrogant behaviour really not something I liked in representing villa. The worst was he had nothing to back it up and his last few interviews were 100% cringeworthy. I don't feel sorry for him he ironically feels sorry for himself even though he says he doesn't .

It needs to be made clear that sherwood brought bthe situatiin upon himself and also handle things with little dignity. This managed seemed to not handle any perceived criticism and  did a job of distance himself . Hence comparisons to dolly in character. Having  a decent career , friends in the game and media meant sherwood inflated sense of self worth was hindering him from developing hi s own managerial abilities.

I think he would do well to learn some Italian charm and be more Claudio Ranieri. Taliking about pizza and winning for team and for me far more interesting, charming, likeable  to listen to in interviews than deadwood ever was villa. A man who wouldn't acknowledge any thing that was essentially his fault he never fully understood the fans needs and I'm sure he didn't recoignize how to handle the players .
In his way in speaking he continsuloy started to be poouring scorn on the players and club whilst making outlandish statements . when the going got tough he wasn't either advised, most probably didn't listen , on how to address the media and sitaution. This attributed to his downfall. We could all see weeks ago he was struggling and instead of acknowledgment that it's tough for him and a new experiences and players REAL HONESTY he went down his character route of bravado and defensiveness. That's like a player not a manager. And certainly not an experienced one. I think saying never been involved in a relegation battle and we will win in Saturday are ridiculous comments. Sherwood fell into trap of never ever developing and I wish he would take a long hard look at self so he could maybe back up his comments but I suspect he's too far set in his ways as that person that he ll keep doing what he thinks is right. Tim there are other ways to see things you handled it poorly hold your hands up.

We spent pretty big sums on Ayew (who I consider a striker) and Gestede. So the investment was there but finding a like for like replacement comes down to Almstadt and Reilly.

I missed his interview on the beeb yesterday as I was too depressed, it's now been labelled "Tim Sherwood's last interview"

Jesus Christ, the end of it is really really bad.

Well I'm sure he's feeling quite low now and his managerial career is a bit in ruins. So in that respect I feel sorry for him.

Fuck him. Anyone who very publicly throws his colleagues and team under the bus shouldn't get any sympathy at all.

Well if he is telling the truth and the players he signed weren't his choices I've got sympathy for him. Mind you if he was that offended by it he should have made a point resigned over it.

I'm sure the couple of million from his time with us will be a few crumbs of comfort. Plus he'll no doubt still do well out of media work, public speaking do's etc. Might still get management work somewhere once people with short memories and a lack of research, think he sounds good when they hear his punditry.

Advocaat had the decency to do just that.

No, just to how it all spun out of control and ended the way it did. The interview was just another example of how not handle things. He comes over as being really spiteful.

I wish him well but I have no sympathy for him at all. He brought the entire thing upon himself and we are in a position of having 28 games to repair the damage he has done.

I think that is quite short sighted, he is part of the problem . But, the problems are much bigger at villa.
