After Westwood and Cleverley were given the hook we started to look like a team. Gil changed the complexion of the game and if the Benteke effort had beaten Mignolet or if Baker had connected then I think we would've got at least a point.

Good things: Gil, Delph, Sanchez, Okore, Guzan, Hutton.

Bad things: Cleverley, Westwood, Agbonlahor.

Message to Lambert: there are at least three clubs that are more likely to be relegated than us so don't be scared. In Baker. Okore and Clark you have a cohort of centre-halves that can do a job - sell Vlaar for as much money as you can get. Keep Delph until the end of the season he may just save your job.

Message to Lerner: you came to the poker table with millions and Martin. You lost. And now you just keep ponying up just enough to keep you in the game. I'm not sure that that was what you and the General promised.

Delph was awful today and his mistake basically ended the game on 79 minutes, he also gave the ball away numerous times with some terrible long passes when the smart option was only a few feet away.

I would have been happy if we'd just have been able to score, let alone actually get some points. We're in big shit if this carries on, somebody needs to do something now whether it's get a new manager or spend a lot of money on players. Or both.

We can't just keep going on the hope we are going to score no matter what Lambore comes out with, it's not a new phenomenon it's been all his reign bar 3 months at the end of the first season. Start sounding out some decent managers now.

Best fun I had today was spotting Midland Liverpool fans in the Upper Trinity. Any middle-aged bloke with a child with a half n' half looking perplexed for starters - fucking hundreds of them

This included the three blokes and a woman in front of me who spent the entire game filming the away support singing or taking snaps of the Liverpool team.

When I couldn't stand it any more I started asking the what they were doing and they duly explained, I then asked them why Villa fans would do this and the look of growing panic was great. After a couple more snaps I simply asked in a loud voice "who do you support then" and one chap said "Arsenal" - this drew a lot of laughter especially when one bloke asked "what the fuck you doing here then?"

As for the game - we went forward for 20 minutes in the second half and it was exciting, then it was 2-0 and shit again as we didn't score again.

I give up saying anything about Lambert now as he's going nowhere.

Darren Bent would have scored from 1 of the goalmouth scrambles today. The fact he's not here and we have no striking options is pure incompetence .

fucking hell not again. You gonna start another thread lighting a candle for old Benty?
Point missed . No striker on bench today.
Brilliant move .

Because he was taking some risks. Our midfield has been shit all season because they all play it safe far too often.

A few thoughts..........

A midfield of Fab, Carlos and Carles has potential.

Gabby must be dropped. What's the point in playing a striker who won't shoot and can't pass.

Should be the midfield line up going forward.  Westwood and Cleverley are so one dimensional.

Getting at least one wide attacking player in the window (whether it be on loan or a permanent deal) is an absolute must.  Agbonlahor and Weimann are currently impact subs at best.

I honestly think Sanchez sat in front of Okore and +1 CB is enough defensive central cover .
The other 3 midfielders need to be offensive based so play Gil, Delph (more advanced ) and a Bacuna / Grealish type !
Time to sort it Lambo you div

Going back to the four across the midfield today, you would have thought Bacuna on the right would have been a good idea. To be honest though, I don't think he wanted to drop any of them which is why he played them all.

Gabby is a waste of a shirt. He's about as much use as a pair of sunglasses to a bloke with one ear.
