Why on earth is Cleverley picked without fail every week? It can not be for how well he plays!

God knows, but clubs only insist on a paying clause if they are interested in seeing a player develop or gain experience. Man Utd just want Cleverley to see out his contract (which ends this season) somewhere else, they couldn't give a shiny shite if he plays or not.

Went to the game today and left a little less frustrated than in recent weeks.  I accept that we weren't great today for a lot of the game and didn't score again, but there were some encouraging signs at times in the second half.

Once Westwood and Cleverley went off, we looked a lot more energetic and I thought Gil showed some real promise.  We got in some decent positions, but the final ball (particularly from the full-backs) was not great.  Lambert is going nowhere so I just hope he builds on it going forward.  If we could add a couple of decent wide attacking players we might just be alright.

Team against Bournemouth:

                         Guzan

Hutton       Okore         Clark          Cissokho

                Sanchez        Delph

Bacuna                  Gil                   Grealish

                          Benteke

Liverpool won't have an easier game all season.

Amusingly one of their hardest games of the season at home is us every season.

That is pure mental.

In his interview with Pat Murphy, who sounded like he felt sorry for the twit, Lambert had the cheek to mumble something about how much Liverpool's team was worth. The excuses will continue to come, make no bones about it.

That annoyed me. Lots

He has moved his tanks onto O'Leary territory.

Said the same on Sky as well. Diabolical excuse. chelsea they aint

As others have said Liverpool were v average. The quietest away support I can ever recall from a fairly full stand

For anyone who watched the game, did Gil look like he has any pace?

Not the quickest or the slowest player I've seen but he's got some skill and can pick a pass.

The things I noticed are:

He is technically good

Can take someone and beat them through skill and little shimmies rather than pace

He moves the play on quickly and I noticed Weimann benefitted from that when he came on. We got round the back of Liverpool on several occasions but either due to a poor final ball or decent defending it came to nothing.

His passing was incisive and some of through balls were good. Once his colleagues wake up to his potential we may score one of these days!

For a small guy he protects the ball well and to get the ball off him you either fail or have to foul him

I was impressed

Just a shame our manager didnt see fit to start him

A few thoughts..........

Cleverley is just as bad out wide as he is in the middle.

A midfield of Fab, Carlos and Carles has potential.

Gabby must be dropped. What's the point in playing a striker who won't shoot and can't pass.

Tekkers seems disinterested. Losing multiple heading duels to Lucas is not acceptable.

Nathan Baker made it through a game without once going down injured.

For such a relentless beating that Liverpool took I can only remember Mignolet making 2 saves, am I forgetting something?

Liverpool's and Everton's away support is always dog shit, especially compared to when their nemisis from up the East Lancs come to play at B6.

I actually thought second half that if we had say Sinclair in Swansea form and another forward to replace Gabby we would have probably scored. Gil looked great but Gabby was just diabolically bad.

Nothing Lambert says rings true nor sounds convincing any more. And nothing he does has any positive impact. An utterly busted flush.
