Not bad at all.  We still give the ball away far too easily and lack a bit of composure in the final third but Man Utd haven't really had a clear cut chance and we've come into the game a lot more since we scored.  Keep it up.  And give it to Benteke as often as we can - he can create something out of absolutely nothing.

Hope we can keep them at bay and score another in the second. Rarely back against Villa on the H&V forecast but did for today. Hope i'm wrong.

Okore looks every bit as good as he did in that YouTube video against Chelsea. Him and Sanchez make us much much more composed.

We simply cannot go into a shell now. We must, must come out and give it a go. The deeper we get the worse the eventual outcome will be. This is the ultimate test to see Lambert truly has changed and wants to play a different way.

Fantastic Benteke goal, really deserves a win, but we need more goals! Man U surely can't be as crap in the second half. My biggest worry is the Villa lads are at this moment getting the inspiration of Mr Glum in his half time talk. I can hear him " I thought we were excellent"

Well fair play to Lambert - he's tried a few different things as we were playing shite. Hopefully we hold on.

We improved as the half went on. In spite of the yawning chasm in midfield, there were actually a few spells when we passed it around nicely. Funnily enough, although it's great we're trying keep it on the deck more, I think we could actually afford to go more direct to Benteke. He's got the beating of them in the air. And if Weimann and Gabby play closer to him, it would give them more of a run at their slow defenders.

Cissokho has no confidence to cross it. I guess that's what you get when you spend £2m on a full back.

It's nothing to do with the price, it's a mentality. I've complained about his unwillingness to cross the ball endless times but against Leicester he actually did and we really put them under pressure. With Benteke, Gabby and Andi on the back post, we have to give the forwards some service.

We've created nothing for the strikers first half but if we can, we will make that crap Plastic defence suffer. Hopefully Lambert doesn't blow it at half time as we can get something from this, even if Manchester's second team do manage to score.

Paulie's bet is looking like extremely good value.

I meant that when you go round buying bargain basement signings you get players with that mentality and skill.

Juventus were still getting the same player when they agreed to pay £15m for him.
