I know it's not ideal. But is going to a match on a Sunday really that much worse than going to a match on Saturday?

Football should be played on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Now and then on Mondays and Fridays (e.g. Tranmere). The only reason for Thursdays is a fixture pile up or 3rd/4th cup replays etc. Sundays should be right out.

How can a Sunday match, when just about everyone has the whole day off, possibly be a less convenient time than a Monday-Friday?

With Saturday kick-off time at 3pm only.

You won't bother trying to get a ticket if we make the final then?

You try getting a train on a Sunday. It adds 1 1/2 there and just had a look and fuck me it's 2 hours extra on the way back!

I have more sympathy with those travelling from a long way away. I can't understand though why some fans seem devastated at the idea of giving a Sunday afternoon up to watch Villa play in the World's oldest cup competition.

My main concern is whether we win or not. Blackpool have no game on New Year's Day, we do. The extra day's rest increases our chances of progression.

So? It's still a day off. Unless you work or go to school hundreds of miles from Villa Park, it won't be a problem.

I assume those who are already making their excuses for not attending won't ever criticise clubs/players/the FA/the media or anyone else for "not taking the FA Cup seriously"?

Sunday was always likely especially with our fixtures, shit I know but the extra day might see us through.

My point was it's a Sunday and the last day of the holidays. I will probably go but work will be at the back of my mind annoyingly.

Wouldn't work have been at the back of your mind anyway? Now you have a welcome distraction as you get to watch Villa play.

They'll be either £10 or £15, depending on what arrangement we come to with Blackpool I imagine.

Your beginning to sound like a 'bigger fan then you'.
I thought better of you

Well if it's £10 north lower I'm happy. That's a fair price .

Not sure how many tickets we'll need to give Blackpool, maybe North Standers will be moved? I imagine it should be okay though as playing us won't be such a big deal for them seeing as they were in our division not long ago.

As for "better fan than you"... no, I acknowledge there are many who put far more time and effort into the Villa than I do. Those who follow the club all round the World for pre-season and the Amfys of this World who give up their free time to campaign for fellow fans.

I just want as many fans as possible to attend this game as some of our recent cup gates have been enbarassing and was attempting to dissipate some of the antipathy to the Sunday game.
