Radical idea there Dave - think I'd prefer p45 Lambert but if Randy trusts him it'd be an interesting curve ball

What would be the point in effectively promoting someone to do a job because he failed in the last one?

I think we need a football man upstairs first and for him to help select the next coach /manager.

But Lambert has to go.

Sorry to be a pedant but we've led going in to the last 10 minutes in 3 of the last 4 (West Ham was 0-0 and after the Spurs game).

Sorry Dave, but while I agree with most of the points in the article, the one shout about moving Lambert upstairs is bonkers. He's been dismal at all areas of the game, so who would want to take advice from him?

Moving him upstairs smacks of 'We like you, really like you and feel bad about sacking you, so we're not sacking you but giving you a different thing here. But if you want to leave, you know, that's fine too. Up to you".

So so is this your sitting on the fence kind of way of saying you'd sack Lambert?

He's already said that a few weeks ago with a "taxi for Lambert" headline in the actual article (think it was after the Spurs game.)

I think the narrative was, as always, it things continue like this etc etc etc.

I just wondered when that line is, was, or will be crossed.

I asked last week but got no reply. If your saying that DW said Lambert should have been sacked after the Spuds game then fine. I must have missed it.

Says it all doesn't it? Lets call it the 'fog of war'.

Much cleaner and more practical if he just goes. Moving him upstairs does sound like the mad sort of thing Lerner may do though.

Is it obsessive to want the best for your club by ousting a moribund, hopeless manager?

As for kicking upstairs - ridiculous idea.

I'm not sold on the Lambert upstairs idea either, mainly because I don't like the idea of having a 'coach'. I think manager's should be allowed to bring their own players in.

Try reading the article properly - the word "obsession" is used in the context of appointing the football man that's so often called for.

I am not sure that Lambert could or should stay at the club in any role, it's not like he has had a successful reign as manager and is making way for a new man.  He has been failure so would lose any credibility he has left.
Other than that, good article Dave.
