Memory - Villa v Arsenal - Help Needed!!
« on: January 17, 2015, 01:19:45 PM »
The old memory is going and this has been driving me mad and Google was little help to me....

I'm trying to recall the game at Villa Park where we beat Arsenal 1-0. It was either Dean Saunders or Dwight Yorke who scored - it was a night game, they were in yellow and I'm sure it was just after Christmas, either Boxing Day or a few days later.

I'm sure we had a tough run of home fixtures but won them. I just can't remember the year or the season!!

Cheers.....

I think it was Saunders who scored and was '92/'93. The same fixture the previous season was one of BFR's first games and he chased Tony Daley up the touchline cheering him on and the same fixture the following season was the last but one game of the old Holte but my last game on the old Holte as I moved abroad a few days later.

1992-93 it was, Yorke won the penalty, Deano converted and we were chasing the title. Did it really happen or did I just dream it?

If it was over Christmas I also remember the trains being up the spout and I spent 2 hours in New Street trying to get to a mates in Dudley Port. Needless to say it wasn't worth the wait.

The fog going through Kingsbury was ridiculous. Nearly had to turn around
