Q + A with Shaun Teale Man of Steel
« on: September 17, 2014, 01:03:28 PM »
Not seen this before, this was from last year just before he travelled to the USA for a soccer camp or something like that. He still loves us clearly. The definition of a cult player and possibly even legendary status?

I just remember how physically dominant him and Paul McGrath were, particularly in the air.

didn't he play through the 1994 Coca-Cola Cup Final with a broken nose from the day before? I remember him cutting his hand on a fish tank the following season which kept him out of the side though by that time BFR was playing the rookie Ehiogu instead.

Great pro, easily relatable to the fans etc. but hardly a legend...didn't he try to rinse us for better wages which led to him slapping in a transfer request and being sidelined?

He lost his place when Brian Little signed Gareth Southgate and was told his opportunities would be limited.

In BFR's book he says he realised he needed a centre half and was talking to Harry Redknapp, who said he had one at Bournemouth who was good enough for the top flight. So BFR took a punt. He said Teale was great but his wife was a bit of a nightmare. He rang 'Arry up to thank him for the tip off and said "But you didn't tell me about his wife". 'Appy 'Arry just laughed. According to BFR she stirred it up before the final against United about bonuses compared to them, suits, etc. Then, again according to BFR she booked him in for a nose job before the start of the following season which led to Ugo coming in and taking his place permanently. But he is up there with my favourite Villa players. He was great with McGrath and I think he sometimes had to work harder to make up for the great man when his was not feeling his best having one of his rare off days.
