I thought we sat far too deep to be honest and there was no real outlet. How many times did we hoof it clear straight back to a red shirt. We got away with it today but that won't always happen.

The result is all the more brilliant when you consider our net spend this summer versus Liverpool. I don't think anyone is expecting this to last and that Liverpool finish above us by some margin in the end. But you cannot put a price on team cohesiveness and getting in some proper experienced players who know how to handle themselves. They have brought tremendous value and helped build the confidence of players like Baker and Westwood who struggled and lost their way.

There is some truth to that, whilst we defended well in the second half we do need to work out a way of carrying more of a threat. However it's all about development and it's a great result and we played really well in the first half.

Hats off to the manager tonight, he got it nailed on tactically.

I wonder whose tactics they were.
Roy may be a big influence on life at Villa currently.
Did you read Jack's little piece about Keane in training when after half an hour he asked JG when he would start training?

We played similarly last season with someone stopping Stevie G from spraying the ball. Only a Suarez dive stopped us from winning at Klanfield for three seasons going. Lambert seems to have the working of Rodgers, well away anyway.

Can't bother to read other comments before posting (will back track later)...just back home after arranging a work game with a Liverpool supporter (and a CFC+MU one).....

We were fucking so much better the first 20...then we changed (BY OUR CHOICE!) to a defensive approach....and apparently we can defend. I loved the post match analyse on SKY...where they spotted how we neutralized LFC....Gabby and Delph were genius of stopping their build up...Baker!!! what a game...

Oh - and the stats....1-1 shots on goal....and the 2 biggest chances not leading to goals were ours...
