Who are they and what have they done with Aston Villa?

The Roy Keane effect ;)

Ha! Well, maybe he has helped. If it were all him he'd be managing Barcelona, because this is some turnaround, but I think it appears to be a combination of a better backroom team than Culversa and Karhouse, better and more experienced players especially in defence, players like Westwood and Weimann taking that confidence and becoming better players themselves, and, I dunno, Jesus or something. This is a hell of a turnaround.

I speak in jest off course. Yes it is a combination of many things including that back line looking really excellent. We've gone from Lowton/Vlaar/Baker/Bennett or Bertrand to adding three players will international experience. Proper players at this level. They won't be with us for next seasons CL campaign but good enough to get us there :)

very positive first half - could have been 4

proper full backs - loving them both

more creativity today , some great football around and outside the box-

experience has helped us

225 mins without conceding a goal this season

That is as solid a first half as I can remember from Villa in a good while

Good first half effort. Would be heartening to see a full 90 minute performance and not let them back in the game.

Cissokho, Richardson and Senderos for a few million looks a deal. We might struggle the next 5 games but against sides we are more on par with we are better matched.

Also I believe we are the only team not to concede in the Prem.

Correct.

Senderos looks very composed out there. Not what most of us have considered of him in his career. He's really helping Ron Vlaar

Must've copped a bake after that midweek capitulation.

It's paid off thus far.

Best we've played since that 30 minute spell against Norwich last season. All over them.
Fullbacks have been positive. We've pressed well in their half. Gabby has been as good as he's been for ages. Weimann has been sharp. Zog has been lively and I've been impressed with Rico. Delphy has been top class too and Westy is playing like a man who doesn't want to lose his place to a potentially incoming Tom Cleverley.

Got to see this out now and keep on the front foot. Lets rack up a few more now. I don't want us to take our foot off the gas. Stay tight and then we can give Jack 20 minutes with a bit of freedom to express himself.

I was going to say Spurs but they are losing 1-0 at the moment.

Great half of football. The turnaround is amazing. Well done to the whole team and it's especially pleasing to see Gabby scoring and contributing much more.

We just need to pray that Ron isn't plucked from us tomorrow. Can't see it happening now though.

A lot of these players didn't play and we had chances to win that game. It was poor no doubt as we still should have looked after our business, but our league side is a bit different to what we put out in the week

Really good half for us.

I hope it is not just early season promise (we were good the first 3 last season too).

Some of the additions have really changed us as a side. Richardson gets beyond the forwards time and again which creates problems, Cissokho is a beast of a footballer who as less than 2 million we have done brilliantly to get, Senderos is a significant upgrade on Baker and Hutton looks solid.

I think NZogbia is still feeling his way back to fitness, when he gets stick it is easy to forget he was out for an entire year.
