He did exactly that after the third assault. Individually, possibly none deserved  a red, but cynicism should be taken into account. If we allow cloggers to just target any player with a bit of talent, we'll never develop enough players of that ilk.

Could Grealish have been injured? Were each of the 4 tackles deliberate? I don't think Bruce could have moaned had they ended the match with 10 men.

Three yellows in eight minutes, they're luck he wasn't on for 1/2 an hour! They would have been down to 9 men by the end.

I was encouraged, for once, by Lambert's comments after the match. He commented on the good movement, sharp passing and positional interchanging (though he called it rotation). Last season there was very little evidence that these things were at the front of his mind, so this is cheering in itself.

i saw that but thought it more as a response to the reaction of our players and the crowd. just trying to stop things from boiling over but not actually satyin g 'stop'. And, of course, whether a team targets a player or not is nothing to with the referee. They uphold the laws of the game not dictate how a team plays.

He also made a great run which Delph ignored in shooting wide. On the basis that Jack had had four touches by that point and being clattered each time, it would have been interesting to see Hull's tactics with him inside the box.

Let's obviously factor in the implausible scenario of Clattenburg actually pointing to the spot for a Villa penalty, when discussing it.

Best home performance well? Since the last one against Hull

Pleased with about 1/4 of the performance.  The football was good first half, the strikers looked good, and we kept the pace up.  Even when we dropped off during the second half we still didn't look in too much danger until their goal came out of no where.  We did get a little sloppy after that which is something we need to stop doing at home.  But considering this is only the third league match and it was important to get the win points considering the run of matches we have I was really pleased.
