Of course this could be his agent trying to up the ante in terms of contract value....

I think the club have known this for a while and that's why they're going to spend £7m on six-months-left-on-his-contract Tom Cleverley in January.

One unattributed article, one "understands" with no basis in fact or hard evidence and we're headed for the Conference.

So do you think he is going to sign a new contract? It doesn't take a genius to know there is more truth in this story than not.
Let's be honest, this is no surprise. Why commit to a new deal, when he is at his peak earning potential?
He's going.

I don't know if he's going or not but I'm certainly not going to start wetting myself about it.
Based on what you do know, do you think he will sign a new contract or not?

My immediate reaction when I saw this last night was annoyance/concern but in the cold light of day players come, players go, the Villa will go on. Twas ever thus.

In the Championship maybe.

That was my thoughts on it as well. The only bad thing about this theory is the players coming are on the decline in terms of quality.

Hope this isn't true, because if it is it's a pretty poor state of affairs from the club and Delph.

Well, Delph's done nothing wrong, has he? He's got a contract, played his best in a diabolical Villa side of late, got into the England team and he's off like a rat off a sinking ship and who can blame him?

Fair point, but I think we need to wait and see whether he goes and who we replace him with if he does before people start posting predictions about where we are going to finish in the Championship.

Think it was mentioned but on top of the inevitable Delph news, Richard Keyes on Al-Jizz TV announced Vlaar "done deal" to Yanited in Jan.
The whole club is like a seeping mis-managed pool of puss. The Crown Jewels are lost while we reward Lambert and Gabby with big money long term deals.

sad to say though it's a pretty tarnished crown, if those two are the jewels, just imagine the reaction to CB going in the summer!  I think the guy owes us some loyalty even if it's just putting a one year extension on his contract with a realistic buy out fee. Shades of Downing otherwise

Loyalty in the game died a long long time ago. As soon as he got called up for Engerland his fate was effectively sealed .
I agree Delph and vlaar are no great shakes but in our squad of overflowing averageness and mediocrity they are standout players.

Indeed. I think all these Baggies fans celebrating Berahino getting an England call up are going to be in for a nasty shock.

Whilst I'll be unhappy if Vlaar, Benteke, and Delph leave I can't really see the attraction of being at Villa at the moment. We are showing absolutely zero ambition and the club seems happy to just about avoid relegation every season. Why would players want to stay here?
