According to a Burnley fan I have just had a few words with, Aston Villa were not one of the 12 founder members of the football league and we were not formed in 1874 because we only came into existence post-1882 after they were founded. Plus we copied their colours.

If only there was something that people could check before spouting bollocks. I dunno, maybe some kind of place that takes seconds to look stuff up. I might invent it and make millions. I will name it George, and I will hug it and pet it and squeeze it.

I was on a train coming from the prison in the Lichfield and as we were a-nearing Villa park some girl booed on the train. She was sitting with her grebo mates - there was some spotty rocker festival somewhere - and when asked by her friends about her booing she said because she was an Aston Villa fan and we'd nicked their colours. twat.

Strange about the Burnley fan though as I was once singled out by a Burnley fan as I was wearing some Villa paraphernalia simply so he could tell me about Burnley taking Villa's colours. Really proud of it and their history and how it was linked to us. I thought kindly of Burnley ever since. Shame you met the twat though Lee.

Thing is all these people are doing are showing themselves up for not knowing their own history never mind football history. May as well go and support Chelsea. or Newcastle.

I might have been hallucinating, but as well as borrowing our colours I believe I read somewhere that we played them in the first game at Turf Moor to inaugurate the ground.   What with us being a big draw at the time, and all that.

Believe we did the same for Bristol Rovers and a few others too.

Burnley originally played in a green kit but changed to claret and blue because they wanted to be as great as the Villa.

It didn't work out.

Perhaps this Burnley fan should have a word with A Lochhead Esq at their next home match. I think Andy might put him right!

That Chelsea fan on Twatter last season was a good one. Anyone still got the jpeg?
