The media are convinced that McLaren and Newcastle is a done deal. But am I right in saying that in appointing previous managers like Kinnear, Hughton and Pardew, two were out of work and one was already on the staff. So that would be three managerial appointments where he has avoided paying compo. Did he also appoint Keegan as well? Who was also 'available'.

So are you suggesting Bassett Redknapp or Venables?  :D
After Carver's reign I reckon none of them would have to worry about the 'cockney Mafia' tag.

Colchester appear to be managed by a lizard.

I don't understand why the "pitch invasion" at Blackpool v Huddersfield (that seemed to involve no more than a couple of hundred people) should have caused the abandonment of the match.  Surely it wouldn't have been that difficult to clear?

Not wishing to make light of a person's disability but, I believe one of the pitch invaders did so on a mobility scooter!

Horribly tense here having to follow PNE's promotion challenge on the BBC Sport app! Yesterday I thought it was bad listening to Talksport on an iPad in the pub, but this is torture!

They need to match or better MK Dons score for automatic promotion. PNE v Colchester currently 0-0 whilst MK Dons are 4-0 up!

Have to remember that the convincing 4 goal lead for MK Dons is meaningless if PNE get just one (& don't concede obviously) but it feels awful at the moment.

Not helped by being up til 1am for the fight, and having to be up for 7am for kick off, just prior to a full day at the cricket!

The rate at which wickets are falling expecting a full day might be being a touch optimistic. ;¬)

Given the heat here, a couple of hours will feel like a full day! We are in the stand with no cover today, and probably a very limited chance to blag our way into anywhere else like we did Friday.
