Don't away goals counter after Extra Time in the Europa League? If so, why the difference between Champions League and Europa League when they're both UEFA competitions?

Both competitions use the shit away goals rule in the same shit way. There's no difference.

Must be my imagination. I thought I had seen the opposite in the Europa but I don't care enough about the competition to be certain either way.

Great.
And well done to our ex captain for reminding us what Fanzone used to be like.

I don't understand. What have I missed?

After my recent little purple patch I did spectacularly bad on my bets tonight. 3 out of 5 in the championship, 2 out of 5 in league one and 0 out of 5 in league two.

The Sun's European football correspondent was on Sunday Supplement and he said he expected Arsenal to have a victorious defeat because that us what they do in these situations now.

As an aside, he has always come across as a well informed and intelligent reporter so I never understand why he is working for that rag.

What a shame, just like Chelsea, the Arsenal go out on away goals. Can Man City make it a hat trick tonight ?

I'n no Arsenal fan but had them to win 3-0 with Giroud as first scorer.  One late goal away from £130....bollax.

Arsenal were the better team, but in the end they've been knocked out by one of the worst teams left in the competition.

It's a good job they weren't playing Bayern again....

I would imagine, given relative circulations, that they pay the most.

Townsend, who I thought had been given the bums rush, took to almost cheering and shouting as part of his co-commentary duties. When Giroud headed just wide he shouted "get in". I know there will be an inevitable slant towards the English team but it's descending into outright bias, and worst of all, hugely unprofessional broadcasting. Charlie Nicholas was even worse on Sky.

If you were looking for a balanced and fair view of proceedings last night on TV, you were struggling.

If you met a reporter for the 'Sun' and a reporter for the 'Guardian' and didn't know which was which, you might be surprised by which one was the arsehole.

I'd like the commentary team to be like cricket ones, you know that they're supporting a certain team, but they still provide impartial coverage of the game. Occasionally they tell you something tactically that is interesting and you might not already know and also be funny on occasion.

David Lloyd likes football, can we get him to do it?

To be fair, some pundits are starting to discuss tactics, such as Gary Neville and even Jamie Carragher (although it's tough to understand what he's saying sometimes).

I think there is a difference between a co commentator covering the game on TV and a studio pundit like Nicholas
I reckon you would have had the same bias had it been McInally or Merse in an important game cheering for us, in fact i've seen it happen

Agreed, but Phil Thompson was stopped from doing Liverpool games for being biased, I can't imagine he did anything worse than Nicholas, the "down on one knee in front of the Witton Lane" twat.

Didn't Townsend have a choice between us and Arsenal when he signed for us? I think Earl Barrett had the same choice too if I remember right. I totally agree with getting 'Bumble' to cover some football. One of the funniest commentaries I have heard was a while back when he was asking people to text or tweet their views on the ashes series during a match. This then turned into a heartfelt lament regarding the demise of the good old fax machine.

Arsene Whinger was completely ungracious and undignified over the tie as whole again, got knocked out so take it on the chin you big tit, he does epitomise the big babies they have supporting the club as a whole.
