The standard of refereeing has plummeted just lately and the FA don't make it any better by not making the correct decisions retrospectively.

To a certain extent any team that's ever won stuff has spent more than their competitors.

Villa, Derby, Forest, Everton and Leeds outspent their competitors when winning league titles? Or are you just referring post 1992?

You may be correct, but when I see Chelsea or Man City lifting a trophy, it's a feeling of 'so what? You've paid for that, not earned it'

I don't think Villa or Leeds spent silly money but weren't Everton known as 'The bank of England' club back then? I love Cloughie, but he was never shy to spend money, even at Derby. At 'little' Forest Shilton, Burns, Lloyd and Gemmill didn't come cheap.

To be fair, I was referring to 1970 Everton. I would say in '85 they won the league on a limited budget similar to Villa four years before.

On that subject, if Wes Brown's red card is rescinded and the ban isn't then transferred to O'Shea, who did prevent the goalscoring opportunity, then whether or not the ref ballsed it up, Sunderland have kind of benefitted from it, as they now have neither of their first choice centre backs on a ban.

It should be transferred to O'Shea but who knows with the FA. They'll probably leave it as it is and keep their head buried in the sand to try and spare the ref.

They ill argue that O'Shea was not the last defender, so doesn't need to be banned.

Surely the ban should be transferred. If the rules say it can't be (I don't know if that is the case or not) then they need to change the rules. Otherwise a player can punch someone in the face and if his team mate is mistakenly sent off for it he gets away without a ban?

Brown's ban was overturned and O'Shea isn't getting a ban.

Sunderland imploding, 1-0 down at the break and Poyet sent to the stand.

Hilarious bit of handbags between Bruce and Poyet

I'm not sure what's more stomach churning, that gash or seeing that Ireland shaves his legs.
This means that Ireland has a shaved gash. He always was a fanny.

Villa won.  Hull and Sunderland both dropped two points. Bournemouth, Brentford, Boro and Watford won to give me a 6/1 fourfold. Good night all round. We just need Arsenal to beat QPR,  Liverpool to beat Burnley and Man City to beat Leicester tomorrow. I might have a little trixie bet on QPR, Burnley and Leicester to jinx them/cover myself for any potential disappointment.

Could do with Sturk beating Everton too. They're only three points above us.

I've never trusted arsenal since that day at Wembley.
