Man City last September ? So hardly a lifetime ago

I still don't know how we did that. There are daylight robberies and then there was that game.
Agree, it was like watching a modern day miracle
Utter  bollox chaps if you don't mind me saying so. City did score twice but I don't remember shaking in my boots cod they were creating chance after chance. We did not let them get away with it and it was a fully deserved win.

I must have been at a different match then because it was like seeing a Dynamo trick where you come away asking yourself how did that just happen

Its really easy, we had more genuine attempts at goal than they did. They had one Toure chance after we scored and that was it, prior to that they'd dumped in two corners and had Kolerov take a speculative point that lead to our goal.

It was fortunate in the respect that we caught them on a day they were all fart and no shit. But we certainly warranted victory on the day. That said, it was the sort of game that doesn't happen very often, and lightening doesn't often strike twice. We did it again against Southampton and then largely it became a gameplan.
As we're seeing now though. More often than not we'll lose and struggle to score.

I think getting at City and attacking them for example, is just as effective a gameplan as sitting on your own penalty area and breaking. As a few sides have seen this season. They're soft at the back and through the middle. So I was disappointed we were so negative against them this term, without even being half as effective in attack as last year at VP. That said, in some games you need a moment of magic to turn it for you. Bacuna provided that. We've not had a moment like that all season so far. And we've needed it plenty of times.

We played well in the second half against Man City, but the first half looked like one of the most one-sided matches I've seen in years.

The way the match turned out, it was one of those where we'd play it again another 9 times and get battered probably. They were unusually lacklustre with their final ball and we took pretty much every good chance we had pretty ruthlessly.

To be fair their second goal that went in off of Dzekos back was very lucky

They dominated the game and we barely got a look in until they started taking their key players off with a Champions League game in mind. One of those changes was Nasri who played really well and they looked like they were going to score every time he took a corner. As with many Lambert Villa teams, we looked totally clueless going forward and having possession of the ball in their half was probably viewed as an achievement. It just looked like another game where we would roll over for one of the top sides so I was astonished when we ended up winning.

God forbid we could win by being better than the opposition.

With the exception of the Spurs game, I think all of our results this season have been fair ones.

You mean the match where we completely opened them up for the KEA equaliser and than forced them into giving away a free kick that Bacuna netted with absolute class shot? Yes that was clueless!

Simple but effective.  This post is spot on.

I'd go along with that too.
I'd also say that we've yet to put two decent halves of football together in a match. First half against Hull and Liverpool were excellent, but even then we took our foot off the gas. It's been a persistent problem. You'd struggle to think of more than 2-3 games under Lambert where we were good in both halves. That said I'd settle for a good half in the upcoming games. For most of our matches we've been shite throughout.

I think Newcastle deserved to beat us, but otherwise I'd go with that.
