Roy Hodgson has come out and said he doesn't expect large crowds for the qualifiers given the opposition in our group.

Hodgson is a disgrace. He should salvage some respect and resign immediately. Nobody wants to see his crap football and his losing ethos.

What a terrible, terrible manager. Liverpool fans were right.

Why wasn't this game played at a club ground?

Adrian Bevington (i'm not sure what his role is on the F.A) has said that Wembley needs to paid for and it will continue to be used for the next 8-9 years. What a ridiculous situation.

it really is. And with England as inspiring as waking up every morning to the realization you follow the Baggies, you can see many more nights where they don't sell out.

Roy Hodgson has come out and said he doesn't expect large crowds for the qualifiers given the opposition in our group.

If Hodgson was not the John Major of football management, more people might be interested, but he is just as big a suck up to the big names as ever. Most other nations would have Shawcross in the squad for example, but no, an 18 year old who has played 3 games at centre half gets picked because he plays for Arsenal.

There are plenty of things to be beating Roy with but Ryan Shawcross isn't one of them. He's a donkey clogger from Stoke and dare I remind of you of his one and only cap against Sweden and his rabbit in the headlights impression against Zlatan?

Zlatan's one of the best strikers in the world, so looking bad against him shouldn't be a reason to write off a player. I think that Shawcross deserves another chance at some point.

Heard earlier today that as well as the poor attendance at Wembley, the peak TV audience was just over 5 million.  9 million chose to watch the British Bake Off instead. Says it all really. The FA haven't got a clue - if they want to enthuse support they should take the games round the country and fill stadiums generating real atmospheres instead of relying on Mexican fucking waves in a half empty monument to their vanity

We'll have to agree to disagree UKR, I think he's useless.

Yes, I ummed and arred over that particular televisual dilemma too; do I waste my evening watching the calamitous spectacle of a bunch of half-baked tarts...or do I watch the Great British Bake Off?

A couple of things from Football Weekly which I thought were quite interesting/surprising:

Hull spent more money over the summer than Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli combined.

The entire worldwide revenue for the Bundesliga TV rights is less than the Premier League gets from Singapore alone.

I see Hodgson has been moaning about peoples criticism of his team.

Makes me laugh when he said people don't understand I have four injuries of main players and then named Flanagan , smalling and Rodríguez. wtf

That is pretty remarkable.

And yet still, despite all this money coming in to the game at PL level, we manage to spunk most of it away, and totally avoid having a respectable national team.

Solid research from Jeff Powell in the Daily Mail:

Quote
'Falcao is touted as one of the best forwards in the world, yet Monaco have leased him out to United like a hire car. It is not players and deals like this for which the loan system was invented.'

'So, can we be sure what Falcao's position will be should United meet Monaco in the knockout stages of this season's Champions League? Have hands already well-greased been shaken on his non-participation agreement?'

That's terrible isn't it? A classic tap on the shoulder moment, "you do realize that Man U aren't..."

Who would people suggest to replace Hodgson though

Rednapp, no thanks
We have tried going foreign and it hasnt worked
There is no natural replacement, no one who 'the people' are screaming out for

Neville, Southgate, Brooking,  Holloway, Hoddle again, McClaren again, Bruce, Hughes,
Allardyce ha ha, Pardew ha ha ha, management by committee

What ya gonna do, as tony s would say
