At Bolton.  We lost 2-1, Bruce Rioch scored a belter for us.  I met Tommy Doc after the match, he'd dropped Charlie Aitken who, was sat near me in the main stand.

I was talking to a young lad prior to going into the ground, when I started to make my way in he told me and a couple of others who I didn't know, to hang on.  He came back a couple of minutes later with complimentary tickets for us.  It turned out he was a youth team player named Greg Fellows, went on to Manure after us, never made it.  A really nice lad, happy to talk to us.

Still lives in the area so I believe. I for one will never understand why Jimmy Brown never made it.

Paul Kerr

My mate always insisted on pronouncing his name in something like a scouse accent. Paul Kiiirrr. He claimed he had some family with that surname and that was the way to say it.

He was a kid in a mans body. Could tackle hard and pass well. A great pity he tailed off. Made over 80 first team appearances. Not a bad total.

It's incredible to think he could still have been playing in 1982.

Was there a centre back in the mid to late 90s called David Hughes??? who I think scored a header against Arsenal. He was a youngster who only played a couple of games. I might be getting the goal mixed up with that of Richard Walker though.

There was a centre half called David Hughes. I think he went to Shrewsbury. Richard Walker was a striker wasn't he?

That's the guy.

Richard Walker was the striker. He had big side burns.

Robert Pires

My lad and me still laugh when we think how slow he was. He literally couldn't move

Doc made him captain - at age 16 IIRC.
No pressure there then!

But he was a strong lad and about my age so I thought he was fu**in' brilliant!

My wife and her workmates had tickets through work for a home game against Blackburn and I tagged along. Her workmates were highly amused by my displays of frustration and exasperation towards Pires.
