I think Jack is now at the stage where he’d make most people’s best-ever Villa XI.

As good as they were, Little & Shaw had their careers ended before they peaked. Shaw was the best finisher I've ever seen. We'll never know how good they could have been, particularly Shaw.

How good was Keith Leonard? My uncle always used to mention how unlucky we were to lose Leonard, Little and Shaw prematurely to injuries.

He was good but we didn't see too much of him. He was nowhere near Andy Gray standard.

Keith Leonard was somewhat similar to Davis; the difference being he could score goals. He came through the non-league, a late comer to the football league, he was a real tough nut well capable of giving as good as he got, ask Dave Watson whose nose he spread across his face.  Leonard was good at holding the ball and bringing others into play.  On the downside he was not the quickest pace wise, nevertheless it was a big loss to us when he had to quit through injury.

The longer the Man U /Sancho saga goes on, the more worried I get.

I was resigned to him leaving no matter what up until a few weeks ago. Now there’s hope he’ll stay.

There's part of me thinks Man Utd have basically been using the Grealish transfer thing as a way to haggle down Sancho's price. If Jack tried to force through a move, that's good for them and they might get a good player on the cheap, but that's not what they're trying to get out of it.

That's my hope anyway.

How much of all this alleged toing and froing is actually a club's doing, though? Somebody posted a ridiculously lengthy list of all the players we've seemingly been interested in in this window. Have manyoo expressed an interest other than from their gobshite fans? Has Solskjaer uttered his name out loud since our game? If they don't get Sancho, then yeah they might come a-calling, but I don't think they're in any position to use him as a bargaining chip.

Kingsley Coman at Bayern is supposed to be the alternative if the Sancho deal doesn't happen.

I was talking to a Man United fan yesterday (the good kind, basically adopting us as his second team towards the end of the season). He says Man United have a pattern now. He said they spend most of a transfer window refusing to meet a club's demands only to give in later in the window. Sides know this and will keep playing hardball while they continue this pattern. On past form, Man United will end up agreeing to Dortmund's terms.

Hopefully we’ll be seen as obstinate, forever.

The money they are offering is pocket change to our owners.

They aren’t even the top team in their city, let alone the north west.

I thought 23 was the cut-off for being a young player. Although, he started the season aged 23, I guess.

I think Ashley Young was the last Villa player to be nominated (and win) and I think he was also on the margin of still being in the young criteria.
