He'll go sooner or later unless we somehow start challenging for the Champions League.  It's just a question of where, when and how much.

We'll be challenging for Champions League and he'll be our captain when we are doing so.

And when is this going to happen?

Sooner than you think.

There is obviously a shelf life to Jack playing for a mid table Premier League team.

But, I’d say in the performances I’ve seen so far there is very little between us and the other 12 or so teams around that area of the league. And with the ambition of our owners there seems no reason why we would be less likely to become a top six team than anyone else.

I wouldn’t be particularly worried about Jack going anywhere for the time being.

I think given our new found financial potency, there's a good chance we're more likely to see an import of Jack's calibre than his departure.

Okay, so what's your rough estimate.  Your best guess.

I don't see any reason why we can't do it by 2022.

I can't see it myself but time will tell.  We'll undoubtedly improve over that period but so will most other clubs.

It amazes me some Villa fans even listen to savage (the bellend!), but each to their own I suppose.
It also amazes me that some Villa fans don't even recognise that we are on an upward trajectory as a club with a competitive financial footing thanks to our 2 owners.
Rather than talking our star players out of Aston Villa we should be talking players of other teams  into our club to complement Jack.
Jack is priceless to our club and certainly irreplaceable, and once he receives international recognition his market value will soar to the point that very few clubs (and perhaps none from this country) will be able to afford him. So Southgate, pull your finger out and pick Jack.
Any further delay might lead cynics to believe Southgate has an agenda.

It’s a huge period for the club if we are to transition to competing at the top end of the league.
The pressure will be immense come the summer to sell our best players.

How is Robbie Savage employed as a pundit? Crap career, poor pundit, uninformed, spouting cliched rubbish.

I think the media will make it appear so.

Well in theory, and what a lot of people outside of Villa don't realise, is we have some really minted owners. Apart from the ladder being drawn in the supposedly FFP rules, we could match most of the other clubs for money etc. We just need to be in a position to challenge though and if not, be a bit like Leicester where when the "best" players do leave, they replace and make themselve even stronger.
