What a relief!
Thank god we got the points to stay up, but no more false dawns under this regime. It has to change.
Lerner/Lambert out!

Surprisingly good performance considering I thought we would lose. Now for god's sake lets forget about football and have a summer devoid of stress.

Hang on!  When does the World Cup start?

and once again thanks to the sellers of the H&V and thanks in particular to Leeg who introduced me to John Russell today.

Just got back to the local. Sunshine in the beer garden and a Villa win for my lads First match. Life feels pretty good this afternoon.

Wholesale changes at VP please.

Thank fcuk for that. Must eat a small slice of humble pie - when Gabby was subbed by Bowery I had a head-in-hands-is-that-the best-we've-got moment and the lad proved me wrong - he made some great runs and his all round play was really good. Maybe there's a player in there after all.

At the time I couldn't for the life of me figure out why he went with Bowery over Holt but it worked a treat. Well done Lambert on that one.

It was quite odd to hear my Android football "app" pinging away for Villa goals while doing the shopping. It is usually an "Oh fuck! Here we go..." moment when I hear it ping.

So cheers Villa! And to celebrate, I slipped a few cans of Stella into the trolley in spite of she-who-must-be-obeyed's tutting.

So relieved, great to hear the result after an afternoon painting a set, deliberately not looking at my phone and praying! UTV! Well done to all who went.

Fantastic! The atmosphere tugged at the heart strings, especially in the second half singing all the old songs. Plenty of movement and passing, a well deserved win. Jelavic and Long were toss and even making allowance for the distraction of the cup final Hull were poor. I think they will struggle next season.

The Ian Taylor moment was great.

Hull pissed me off when they wouldn't put the ball out when we had someone down injured, then a while later as soon as they had one down they were all pointing and wanting us to put the ball out.

Trivia time

Ashley Westwood's goal was the 1,000th at Villa Park in the Premier League (Villa have scored 570 and conceded 430).

Just home from VP with a celebratory Chinese takeaway and chilled Pinot Grigio. Can I join the chorus of PHEW! and then ignore Aston Villa until August, except when we get our new billionaire and new manager and new proven PL players.

disappointingly a good chunk of the 430 have come in the past 4 seasons

Pretty comfortable that in retrospect. Hull were garbage, but we played with a lot of energy and pressed them well.

Bowery really surprised me, he looked decent and played a fantastic ball for he the third. Glad it's all over bar some shouting mid-week and against Spurs.

Jordan Bowery.............. at last there's signs that there's a footballer in there somewhere. I'm not saying that its a Premier League footballer but he's got a chance of a nice career at Championship level.

No team should ever put the ball out. It shouldn't be up to the players. The game should only stop if the Ref blows
