I was wondering if Sylla could do a man-marking job on Huddlestone. I reckon stop Huddlestone, stop Hull.

Never thought I'd say this, but I'd start with Holt. A calming influence who's been in horrible situations like this before, frankly deserves to be in the team more than Weimann, offers more defending and attacking set pieces (you have to account for luck as much as possible in a game like this) and good at holding the ball up.

My team would be 4-5-1/4-3-3:

Guzan

Lowton
Vlaar
Clark (don't trust Baker)
Bertrand

Westwood
Delph
KEA

Albrighton
Gabby

Holt

Agreed.

Reading through this thread, all I can say is thank Christ none of you are in charge.

Hutton?

Delfouneso?!

Dropping Westwood?!!!

My word.

I'd take any of the posters on this thread over Lambert

We'd have been down months ago if any of these suggestions had happened.

Nathan Baker in central midfield, FFS. What sort of utter lunatics are we dealing with here?!

To be fair, none of them have played Bowery on the wing.

I would try and get Helenius fit as something different. If we have to start that useless lump Holt we may as well forget it. Likewise, Baker had better not be in the same postcode as the starting eleven. Play Clark with Donacien as back up. Or have Bertrand move central with Bennett outside. Anything but that fucking oaf starting again.

Lowton right back, Bacuna in midfield with Delph and Westwood, Albrighton, Gabby and Helenius up front.
Oh, and somebody tell Gabby this could be his last game at Villa Park for Villa. See if he thinks that's worth a good laugh.

Can we play Guzan and Steer ?

Even allowing for the fact that only one of them would be allowed to use their hands, having two keepers in goal might be the answer.

I'd like to see us really freshen things up next week.

Guzan

Lowton
Vlaar
Clark
Bertrand

Delph
Westwood

Albrighton
Tonev
Agbonlahor (poor as he's been, there's always the hope Gabby might come up just as we need it).

Helenius

Get Johnson and/or Gardner on the bench too. Holt and Weimann should be out of the 18.

I think we should go with:

Guzan

Bacuna
Vlaar
Baker
Bertrand

El Ahmadi
Westwood
Delph

Albrighton
Agbonlahor
Weimann

It's been a pretty good lineup of late and consistency is the key.

We've been consistently losing though. That's bad consistency.

Rimmer
Gidman McNaugt McGrath Staunton
Bremner, Mortimer,  Platt
Shaw, Gray, Little

That should do it.

Dome head instead of Sid? You must be joking
Rimmer

No Peter Withe? I know he hasn't scored for a while but no Villa team can be named without his name being included. It's the law. And rightly so.
OK that's why I appointed you as Assistant Managers!
Rimmer
Gidman McNaugt McGrath Staunton
Bremner, Mortimer,  Cowans
Shaw, Withe, Little

I think this team will whip Hull 6-0.

The happiest of clappiests.

I may have been being sarcastic. However, I think we need to prioritise changing formation over personal as 4-3-3 or whatever we play at home just doesn't work.
