Lambert has spoken.
Usual shit?
Yep, reckons we started well deserved to equalise, wouldn't criticise Guzan for 2nd goal, wasn't sure it was a pen?
Says he needs the fans on board for hull, called it a "cup final"
A cup final? If it's anything to go by with his record then it's a nailed on loss. Probably go 3-2-5 formation is desperation for final minutes of us chasing the game

This is about as low as it gets. I've been walking round the house in a daze since 15:26 and I'm feeling punch drunk now.

the fact is we have to all get behind the club on Saturday and give 100% to the cause.

Depending upon status after the final whistle will determine the level of vitriol aimed at the management/owners etc, however until then it's stiff upper lip time and as one we roar them on.

I think I'm trying to kid myself (or motivate myself) which is proving v difficult but is there ano option at this time?

Brian Green is right.  We've allowed this to happen. Lerner, Faulkner and whatever stooge that's currently in the dugout would have been the subject of grief for years at any other club. If we do survive NOTHING will change under this incompetent management. It will simply delay relegation by 12 months.

Absolutely spot on.
We've been practically asset stripped (on the playing side) over the last 4 years and the fans have let them get away with it. Only now have we finally realised what Lerner has done to us.
That's a difficult argument to make, SH. Lerner has put up the dosh: the problem is that the jokers using the dosh have screwed up bigtime. Hardly asset-stripping; just rank incompetence.

Not that it's going to help exactly, but what are the permutations which will allow us to stay up without getting another point?

So, desperate times means desperately relying on others as we are obviously incapable of winning a fucking game. So as it stands, for us to drop 2 of these clubs need to do the following (i'm pretty sure i've worked this out right) based on us getting 0 points from the last 3:

Fulham: Must beat Stoke (a) and Palace (h) anything less than 6 points and they can't catch us.

Norwich: 5 points from Manure (a) Chavski (a) Arsenal (h)

Cardiff: 6 points from Sunderland & Newcastle (a) Chavski (h)

Sunderland: 6 points (maybe 7 depending on GD) from Cardiff (h) Manure (a) Bitters (h) Swansea (h)
Norwich only need 4 points.

If we don't get another point, which looks likely, then if any 2 teams below us win 2 games, or one team wins 2 games and Norwich win 1 and draw 1, then we'll be down.

Am really hoping that come next weekend we will be safe..nothing to do with us getting anything vs Hull of course.
Fulham away to Stoke, they must win.
Cardiff at Newcastle, they possibly must win.
Norwich at Chelsea they must win / draw (if they get beat tonight).
Sunderland at Man Utd, they possibly must win / draw.

All 4 teams away in tough fixtures....we are at home but hey, what does that matter.
Off for more straw clutching...

Lerner should've sold-up in 2010. A complete waste of 4 years since. Can't stand him - never a word to the fans in 8 years.
Hear hear!

Paul Lambert has labelled the home clash with Hull next weekend a "cup final" as they strive for the victory that he believes would ensure safety in the Barclays Premier League.

Lambert says the Tigers clash is a "must-win" as Villa lie 16th in the top-flight table on 35 points, two places off the drop zone.

His comments follow the 4-1 defeat to Swansea at the Liberty Stadium, a loss he believes was defined by the second goal scored by Jonjo Shelvey.

He said: "I am really disappointed to lose.

"We started the game really well. We lost a goal but we deservedly got back into the match with a really good one ourselves. We got ourselves back into it.

"We then lost a poor goal. That second was a major turning point. It was a great finish but it was an error on our part.

"There wasn't much too much in it at that time. The second goal was the turning point though.

"The third goal took the wind out of our sails. The fourth goal was disappointing. Gabby had a similar one that wasn't given in the first half.

"We still need one more win.

"It's a must-win match next week. It's a cup final. We have to win it.

"They are three really tough games to finish. It's not a position we want to be in. But we are. Next week's is a must-win."

This is a super idea. If there is one thing that our players have shown they are good at (and there isn't), it's performing under pressure at Villa Park.

Lerner sold all the quality at the club (except Benteke). Now we have a team packed to the rim with lower league rubbish on a relative pittance wage wise. We've been downgraded as a club, and most of us didn't even notice. In fact they fell for the "young and hungry" line hook line and sinker.

The away support has been remarkably loyal, but at Palace there was real anger towards Lambert and today towards the players too. Vlaar was one of the few who came over to the away end. When he applauded the Villa fans he was jeered and, obviously annoyed, gave a "suit yourself" gesture and walked off. You sense that the players, like the fans, have given up
