It was also manufactured by adults in Italy, being paid a reasonable wage, rather than by children in Asian sweatshops, like the clothing you're so fond of. Another reason to be proud of our great club.

I'd be very pleasantly amazed if this was true.  Can somebody check a label?

I've not got one handy but I'm sure I remember a video of them being made cropping up on here before.

Every year the club drop hints to the away kit with the kit day posters, because of this I expect our away kit to be yellow and green or maybe just yellow.

I would just like to see a Yellow lion embroided onto the shirt, with the name and Prepared underneath. I would also have the star, or maybe how many trophies we have won in small Roman numerals hidden somewhere.

Everyone's labels peeled off after 2 washes

Made in China. Checked both home shirts and last season's away.

Are you saying it's not the biggest shirt deal in our history? Which one was worth more?

Please can you answer, do you think that Nike's failure to get the kits out before Winter had started was acceptable?

Any second now...
I'll answer it if you want.

It is the most lucrative deal the club has had.

It was pretty shoddy that the last Nike kit wasn't available for so long You can't excuse those things.

As a fan though, and although I personally haven't bought one for myself this season, the quality of my sons two shirt (last two home shirts) and my Dad's couple have been of poor quality compared to Macrons direct competitors products.

I accept the line about the labour costs too, but of course that is going to have a bearing on the quality of materials used, especially if you intend to keep the mark-up on the retail price in line with competitors.

Of that 70% that is being quoted, how many do you think just like it because it's a Villa shirt and it's the latest one, because lets be honest that's why the majority of people buy it.

True but some, well one at least, will just vote against anything the club does!

Thanks for a more reasoned response than SH's "anything I don't like must be shit" posts on every subject.

When you say the quality wasn't good what was wrong with them? Did they fall apart in the wash? Did you write to the club, hopefully any problems can be (ahem) ironed out before next year?
Haha, I did like the last line!

Last seasons was the wrong colours from the off for me. I had last seasons as well as my son. The sponsor started to come off mine after about 5 washes, and as well as the feel of the fabric being poor, it seemed to get little pulls all over the shop that ruined the look of it for both shirts.

I liked the design of this years and really wanted to get it. My Dad bought it before me. He'd had it a week and washed it once after wearing for a day, maybe two in the summer. he told me he'd got it and let me try it on and have a feel for it, and again I just didn't like the feel. And already in the short space of time he'd had it there were pulls in the side vent parts, and (you know the little elasticated bit at the bottom on both sides?) had started to fray. My Sons one this year hasn't been too bad so far, but then he's only just grown into it really and will be wearing it more this summer. It was bought as a gift.

One personal thing I don't like either is the infant sizing range is massive and gave a problem at the start of the season of either buying a shirt that would fit my son for a month or so, or buy a shirt that was miles too big that he can only realistically wear at this point in the season. There was no in between size. Kids sizing is a mine feild though and I do have some sympathy with the manufacturers there.

Put me right off and I didn't buy this years in the end. I may buy one when it's cheap as chips, but more just to keep my collection going than to wear.

As a consumer I'm just not impressed with Macron, and I dare say I could contact the club with my concerns. I'd rather just not buy the stuff though to be honest

What do you all think is the 'proper' badge?
Is there such a thing?

I know what my favourite is though

Ah well... hmmm...

Maybe that video was just the design rather than the manufacture then, or perhaps I'm going mad?

Either way, I can't imagine their human rights record being worse than Nike's.

Agreed. After all China's human rights record is second to none.
Erm...

Agree with the first bit but not the stars. I want us to look forwards not backwards, I used to like the star but we shouldn't need to showcase it or what we've won. The only exception for me is national teams and World Cups.

Yellow lion with 'prepared' under it please. Or 'Aston Villa' / 'Est. 1874' if people think that would be better.

Ta. Shame.

I don't like the current shirts at all, and the sponsor doesn't do it any favours.  I thought the first Nike was fine, probably because they didn't have much time / couldn't be arsed so it was as plain as could be.  I bought a load sans sponsor on ebay, and they've stood up well to my gut stress test.

I don't mind Randy's badge - a few tweaks and it might even be my favourite.  As it is, 1975 please.

You'd think if Macron were making the kit for next season they'd have their name plastered all over a kit launch poster,

We won't be with Macron next season.....just me?!

I may be one of the few, but i think Macron's designs have been way better than Nike's half arsed efforts

It's the 1975 badge for me but I do like the 1969 version from Legion's picture.

I don't know about Macron's arrangements but lots of clothes made in Italy by adults are actually made by illegal immigrants treated abysmally - little better than slaves - working in hideous environments in sweat shops for pennies, in factories run by organised crime in southern Italy, so I wouldn't necessarily bank on that as a mark of ethics.
