I guess we'll know soon enough. I'm assuming Di Matteo wouldn't take the job if there's no certainty of who he'll be working for, so either The Heil or The Scum are wrong.

It may be RDM has been told he's the man whether it goes through or not.

If it turns out to be true that he's been blocked as the buyer then that's a good thing. If there's any doubt about his financial bona fides, I'd rather find out now than when we're emulating Portsmouth as a result of it.
The day AVFC emulate Portsmouth im fuckin off!

A journo named Charles Sale in the Daily mail.co.uk  reports....

All the signs point to the Premier League and Football League turning down Aston Villa’s £60million takeover by Dr Tony Xia’s Chinese consortium, on the grounds that they haven’t the funds to do so.

Well-placed sources claim that American Randy Lerner, who is trying to offload the club at a knockdown price, has already been told that Xia will not pass the necessary financial tests

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-3618506/Football-League-puts-B-teams-agenda-turn-flight-clubs-help-finance-revolutionary-proposal.html

If he's not got the funds to buy us, then it's got fuck-all to do with any "financial tests", surely? Even Randy would notice that cheque bouncing.

None of the Fit and Proper Tests seemed to have anything to do with the owner's estimated wealth anyway so I doubt the story.

Someone put them on here and, IIRC, they were all things like must not have gone bankrupt, must not have been involved in a club that went bankrupt, must not have been arrested for financial chicanery. Even things like must not have been convicted of selling tickets or broadcasting matches illegally.

Nothing about whether they actually have any cash.

Basically I would easily pass the test and I have zero money.

I've heard that you're nailed-on to fail the fit & proper director & owner due diligence background check on account of you breaking down that time near Bordesley, and you know how dodgy their Chinese owner was so our one, and by extension you, must also be dodgy. The leagues will definitely put a stop to this. And to you.

The only time I broke down near Bordesley was with laughter when I went past The Sty on the bus and realised they had a big poster celebrating being the first club to sell a player for a million pounds as one of their great "achievements".

I do like Chinese food, and have a number of books, some of which are red and little, so may be guilty by association though.

It's Charlie fucking Sale, possibly the least well connected journo it's possible to be. Doesn't he normally report on the egg chasing (really badly by all accounts.) so what he knows could be written on A postage stamp.

The story is a strange one. First it is in a gossipy like column from Charles Sale, which seems to be speculative. Second if there was such confidence, it would be a much bigger story. They talk of a consortium, which it is not, and other, more Villa connected people have all said he will be in the UK and interviewed next week and it will take time. Lastly, it would not look at the funds, it looks at the individual.

surely if he couldn't afford to buy the club he wouldn't have got past the first question Hollis would have had for him.

Charlie Sale, you say.

File alongside Nigel Pratt-Dumpster, George G Ale, Sid Yobbo, Piers Moron, Brillo Pad and Sir Perishing Worthless in the dustbin labelled "Fecking Eejit".

Plus what would have convinced Di Matteo to stick around and what looks increasingly likely agreeing to be the new manager if this deal wasn't happening?

CDBWF this better be true or I am going to get very upset with you. I have noted that on 31 May I was told all this by you.

The fit and proper person stuff doesn't establish wealth does it. It's up to the seller to establish that, which is a concern, but PL or the FL can't turn him down unless he's corrupt.
