Even if it does turn to shit, just enjoy today as a win. the pissing contest for who can be the most grown up and sensible fence sitter is dull as Eric Black.

Is this chap simply an employee of Recon or is he claiming to be the boss having built them up through numerous acquisitions and mergers?  At his age that seems unlikely.

Significant web presence?

This: http://www.reconig.com/ ?

I'm not scaremongering at all, I'm just raising the point that somehow, this company is worth 42bn (and I'd like to see where that actually came from), yet both it and its owner are invisible to the internet.

I'll happily be less concerned when I see actual facts about who these people are, but as yet, there has been absolutely nothing said that makes me feel any less worried.

Can you not be successful aged 40?

How could a group whose bread and butter seems to have been infrastructure in a state lead urbanisation programme in China be anything other than loaded.

Really fucking boring after the shit we've had for fucking 6 years. One afternoon of giddy dreaming is clearly too much to ask for.

Paulie, you're making an argument about something that just isn't true.  If you were Chinese and you looked for info on them you'd find it.  To get it in English takes a little more effort but try finding details on SAP using cyrillic on a Russian search engine (for example) and then see how easy it is to find details about who they are.

The fact is someone did a credit check and found the company to be worth $42bn and a few of us have dug around and found a significant web presence that you're trying to say doesn't exist.  This isn't some fraudster who has managed to blag his way through the entire sales process.  That doesn't mean he'll be perfect and it says nothing about what will be spent on us but it does mean the scaremongering from the last few pages is entirely unwarranted.onay Cia
If Tony's the boss of loads of really successful businesses with loads of dosh then we're all happy. Your links just now look better. I wonder why the 'Introducing Tony Xia' only mentioned his MSG company. Maybe that was a PR cock up.

I refuse to believe that Hollis has been hoodwinked by fraudsters. Moaning Brummies indeed.

One afternoon of giddy dreaming isn't going to seem so fantastic if this bloke turns out to be a shyster, is it?

If anyone can show me something from a reputable source stating his company is worth 42bn, then I'll rest easy. Thus far, we've seen absolutely nothing.

Oh, good one. Moaning Brummies. Dodgy Chinamen. I'm not sure which daft stereotype to get behind.

There's nothing wrong in a bit of healthy scepticism, especially when our last owner was an absolute disaster for the club. But there's also no reason to jump off a cliff. Yet.

Why is he a shyster or what leads you to think he's a shyster? Because you're as ignorant as most of us about China? Because he made a similar comment as a hair dresser once did? I hope he does well by us, only time will tell, but I won't be rushing on day 1 to give a single fuck about what some of the literate Noses think about this deal, the bitter twats that they are.

The fact that they're Chinese doesn't automatically make them dodgy. And even if they are dodgy then remember our last owner was as honest as the day is long and he turned us into a bloody shambles.

The Chinese are the new world order in business (for now - India may catch them up).  20 years ago when I was working in the Far East I read a book called 'Lords of the Rim'.  It is a fascinating book about the Chinese expatriate business community that spread originally from one area of China to control business empires all across SE Asia and the Pacific Rim to the west coast of USA and Canada.  Take Thailand as an example, most of the top business men and politicians in the country are Sino Thai.  Politics and business are intertwined in Chinese working.  In the last 20 years, China has grown dramatically and the Chinese are looking to diversify their money across the world into many business streams.  The typical Chinese businessman (small or large) has his fingers in many pots.

There is a reason why this guy has bought us and it is not just because he is a fan and likes the team colours.  This is an investment and I think it is not just for the short term and I do not think it will be an isolated investment here.  I do not expect us to be the new Man City but I do think there will be steady positive investment but the key to success is to build a successful team.  There are only a few of clubs in the world that can spend fortunes and almost guarantee success.  For all the money Man City have spent, are they getting value for money out of the expenditure.  We have learnt the hard way that it is how you spend the money, not how much there is.

I am optimistic.

I'm not one for making sweeping judgments based on nationality, but if you're going down the route of judging him on the basis he's chinese, all of the above could have been said about Carson Yeung when he bought Small Heath.

I have not said that I was putting the house on us winning the PL, I said I was optimistic.  I was giving an insight into Chinese business and did not say 2+2 = 4.  I posted my comments as an alternative view (hopefully informed) on Chinese, compared with some of 'gut feel' negative views.  At the end of the day, £60m (plus the reported £20m or so losses) is still a lot of money to invest, particularly in football, as seen from the short queue of people wanting to buy football clubs.

Right now I have no idea who they are or if they skint or minted. I'll judge them on what they do, the people they appoint and forgo any of the PR and spin.
