Is this guy really likely to be in the know, or, like us, just tweeting as a fan?

The biggest thing I can see about commoli coming in (without really knowing much about him) is that it seems he wouldnt go to a club that wasnt prepared to dabble in the transfer market.

Surely an appointment like him shows that new owners are prepared to spend a bit? He wouldn't go somewhere operating under austerity measures, would he?

And Bale at Spurs

Who he'd signed as Spurs entry into the worst left back of the decade competition.

He was one injury to whoever it was away from being farmed out to B9, before being shoehorned into a wide left position out of desperation.

It wasn't really his call as to where on the pitch he was played. I'm pretty sure that Bale would have developed into a very good left-back if he'd been left there.

No it wasn't his call where he played. He played left back for Southampton, had been scouted as a left back and was recruited as a left back.
He might well have finally developed into a good left back eventually, but he would never have developed into a world record transfer fee signing for Real Madrid, which is what everyone thinks of when they mention him whilst talking about Spurs transfer record and the profits they manage to turn.

Well Adil Ray (Citizen Khan) was in with the directors today and has tweeted that the Chinese are taking over and putting Commoli in as Technical Director but still looking for a Chief Exec although Keith Wyness formerly of Everton has been linked.

I can't see any reference on his timeline to him being with the directors. At the game, yes, but nothing more.

So what you're saying here is... we play Joe Bennett wide left, then sell him to Real for £200 million next summer?

@lucygooner asked him if he was and he confirmed.

I would think Real Madri in Brazil were more likely.

I can't find a currency that would give va sensible valuation in sterling if it's 200 million in a local currency.

. If your owner doesn't want you any more that apathy filters down through the entire club. It's no wonder almost none of the players give two shits.
This.

I think this is absolutely correct.

Well, no. But Bale was well-known as a marauding left-back at Saints and it doesn't take a visionary to see that he might well have been an option a bit further up the pitch at some stage in his career. Wasn't he only 17 when they signed him?

Nobody's trying to claim that DO'L (or was it MO'N?) is a genius for moving Gareth Barry into centre midfield, nor that JG or SGT II were ignorant for playing him elsewhere. The fact is that he was/is a good player and therefore a good purchase by Villa.

I would take it. Commoili may have flaws but he is not going to take any job that doesnt come with money to spend.

This is quite interesting in regard to Comolli - http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2015/05/time-reassess-damien-comolli/ - I think his spurs record with young players is similar so that's well worth considering, he might actually be a good option for us to finally start benefiting properly from our academy, which has produced a ghell of a lot of top flight players in the last 10-15 years, almost all of which have been allowed to leave us either on the cheap or for nothing.

No. At best £150 million.

That is what I'm choosing to take from it as well.
