I'm clinging to the hope that, if talks are at an advanced stage (as we've been led to believe), then there must be airtight confidentiality agreements in place; no one on the verge of spunking £100m wants their business made public until the ink is dry, surely?

Plus, if things are close, the only people actively involved are hardly the type that would be whispering to the security bloke on the gate as they leave VP.

Depends whether they romantically nourish them!

Oh James...you speak the Randy language of love

My mate used to work for him, we had a pint with his son. Dead posh.

The man is a Villa fan, that automatically gets my respect. Hopefully, he has a couple of mates lined up too and this happens very soon.

If he's a rational man if he's anything like most Villa fans he'll constantly be sacking managers

Who said talks were at an advanced stage, though?

Don't get me wrong, I hope they are, but nobody has gone on the record to say that.

King came very close to it, his 'next few weeks' comment in that interview really shouldn't be dismissed, I think he'd have been much more vague if there was nothing happening.

I thought people were jumping on the fact he said 'the sale' rather than 'a sale'? I don't remember the 'next few weeks' bit.

He said something about the sale rather than a sale and then followed up with something about the events of the next few weeks putting villa back where they belong.

Put both of those together and I reckon that's as close to getting something on record as we'll get before the ink is dry.
