Sherwood said it was dead in the water; to repeat, on your version of events, he must be lying.

Weren't there 2 bids on the table?

1) American consortium who were granted exclusivity

2) Howard Hodgson and some other Villa men, backed by investment from China
Is there anything that backs up or gives any credence to either 1), 2) or any number of other random suggestions apart from guesses on various internet message boards?

Yes they turned down Two hotels on the Old Kent Road, a Get Out Of Jail Free Card and The Waterworks so they have to take a Community Chest card.  "Yow are relegated to the Conference, do not pass go do not collect £200."

If it looks like bullshit, and smells like bullshit, and tastes...actually, scrap that last one. Anyway, you get the picture.

The headline to that article bears zero relation to the content.

Sums up that publication. One of the long departed researchers probably logged a report on BRICS v PIIGS a few years ago, and this bright spark has used it a resource. "Smart" traders are short commodities such as as oil, metals and minerals as long as the US is printing money and engaging in the race to the bottom in the currrency wars to try and destroy Russia and China.

The Star are are positioning themselves at the bizaare end of the market for the coming catastrophes. It stopped being a serious newspaper some while ago.

It stopped being a serious newspaper around eight seconds after some people had a meeting and concluded that they ought to launch a newspaper and that it would be called the Daily Star.
