we are bidding 9 mill on players, good players are deciding to come to us and others prefering to stay, we have a couple of exciting youngsters in the team and the management team seem as settled as they have been in a long time, Sherwood whilst still inexperienced has us scoring and at times playing BFR football

so i'm not disappointed about the takeover news,
I never really believed we were in DD or exclusivity anyway, in fact i'm a bit surprised that we might have got close to a takeover at some point as I never thought anything was going on

I like where we are going at the moment, I like the new track we are on,  it could all turn sour obviously,
but for now I am optimistic about next season, maybe even top half

I just have a big problem being owned by somebody who himself as said he has had enough.

Don't you find it a bit strange that the manager can just come out and casually say the deal is dead.  Just a bit weird if you ask me.

Thats our club though isn't it? Just weird.

I expected it but its not the best of news. Unfortunately it means business as usual at Villa. The customary Lerner new manager kitty (~20M maybe a bit more this time because of increased revenues). Our big excitement will be seeing if we can stay in the league again. Yet another manager talking about needing to sell to buy.

Not very inspiring really.

Yet the manager is quoted as saying he expects Benteke to stay. Our only asset that would bring in a great deal of money. So that doesn't add up does it?

To be honest provided we are investing in players of sufficient quality and have some sense of direction I don't mind who's in charge.

isn't that why Fox is running the show now though

Yes I do. Nothing to do with Sherwood at all. If I was Randy Lerner I would be fuming.

After having it explained to him several times, slowly,  I'm sure he will be.

Well we have had four years of austerity at the Villa and if Randy stays which looks likely now we could well be having another shit season battling to stay up due to lack of investment.

Alternatively we've just signed a player for £9 million, it sounds like we might be signing another for £9 million and Micah Richards has come in on big wages. It seems different to the last few summers.

Or it could be the Benteke money being spent now before clubs know we have money to spend.

That's what I don't follow.
Why is Fox allowing Sherwood to be the mouthpiece for the club.
I don't doubt for one second that Sherwood said what he did with the clubs knowledge and blessing.

I am happy enough with the Fox/ Sherwood axis and as long as he is backed, then long may it continue with the players we are after this summer.

I know City & Chelsea can just buy their way around it but assuming randy is just going to play by the unfair FFP rules and not have one of his shell companies sponsor the mens bathroom for 100 million or something.

So can someone here smarter than me tell me what backed to the FFP maximum actually would mean for us?

How much would we actually have? Roughly?

I have no idea so any guidance would be great.
