If Australia has problems with unemployment, maybe they could give people jobs building that middle bit of the country they never got round to.

I made a comment about the chinese a few pages back relating to the fact our beloved PM has signed a free trade agreement with China that allows chinese workers to work in Australia. We have twenty five percent youth unemployment and all the car factories are just about to close putting thousands out of work. I don't care which country the workers come from the policy is plain stupid. If thats racist the worlds gone mad.

Will these Chinese people not pay taxes that build schools and hospitals, buy houses, food and clothes? Won't people who work in those industries benefit from increased trade?

It's fine to disagree but it's not plain stupid in my view.

Depends whether it's a short term gain at the expense of a long term future.  I do not know enough about Australia to comment.

In this country the massive recent rise in population as put enormous pressures on our public infrastructure at a time when we can least afford to be spending money on new schools, hospitals etc., resulting in cuts in services to balance the increased expenditure.  The problem is that when the increase in foreign workers is at the lower end of the pay-scale, the extra revenue in tax is small in comparison.

Rumours of a new chairman being appointed and not a sale.
I'm throwing David Dein's name into the mix. Just a feeling

If we were still for sale the club would have at the very least put out a short statement denying the rumours of a sale, no business would allow it to get to this stage.

I largely agree, the simple question to ask is how likely is it that in 4 weeks no one has said anything to suggest the exclusivity isn't happening?  I don't even mean official statements, I just can't imagine that there wouldn't be journalists looking for an exclusive who'd be trying to get something, if we're not in a exclusivity deal then we're still open for sale and why would anyone be trying to hide that fact, what possible reason could there be for it?

I am now very confused. Was there ever any official confirmation that we had entered a period of exclusivity/due diligence?

I've just caught up on the last 27 pages and I'm still none the wiser. I'll look again in another couple of weeks.

No there weren't but there never needed to be.

My view point is simply that if the club is still for sale and nothing is going on then someone somewhere should have been able to find that out, this isn't like trying to find out who the bidders are, etc which will all be covered by confidentiality this is a simple "are the club still up for sale?"  For me no news for 4 weeks after a report of an exclusivity period with a none disclosure agreement broke is more likely to mean that was correct and that's really what's happening.  I'm not saying it's 100% it's just that on the balance of probabilities it's more likely.

It is when the imported workers will be paid vastly below award rates, they will not be permanent residents more like fly in fly out or on contract. I'm retired so it doesn't affect me but i worry for the many thousands of young people who are finding it impossibel to find work. Anyway have we been sold yet?

Nope. It could happen of course but the last real info we had was Randy saying if he didn't sell he would get a new chairman.

Sherwood said yesterday he had no knowledge of a sale I believe him but your mileage may vary.

Your guess is as good as anyones.

If you want my guess its that Randy is loosening the pursestrings for a decent summer window but has not found a buyer he likes and will step away with a new chairman taking over.

But I am just guessing, like everyone outside of Randy and maybe Fox.

Maybe that's what Stanley Victor's tweet a few pages back was referring to. Can't find it now but it was along the lines of exciting times ahead which he then clarified as being about people coming in.

He asked about the North Stand rebuild and was told that we'll be investing in people rather than the stadium, which suggested players. Lerner has said that if he can't find a buyer, he'll step away and bring somebody in his place.

I think it's safe to assume that we at the least were in due diligence, as I can't imagine the beeb would've put out an article like that with at least some substance behind it.

The real question is whether the whole thing is still on, or has something changed.

Talking to a nose mate last night and he asked if our books were still being looked at, I said all we know are the rumours that are flying about.
He then said we're lucky to have books for a buyer to look at, all any buyer would find at Small Heath is an overdue library book and the fine on that would finally do for them.

For all the talk here and elsewhere about the takeover - whether there is one, who is behind it etc etc - I honestly believe that pretty much the first thing we hear about it will be when it has either gone through, or is just about to.

There is far too much money involved in it all, and too many people who both know what they're doing and have jobs they'd lose if they leaked details, for any of this to come public unless they specifically want it.

You're right about the exclusivity thing.

If there is such a deal in place, then we're far more likely to hear about it in the meantime if it falls through than we are if it is going ahead.

I think we'll wake up one day, turn on the news whilst eating our breakfast items of choice, and see that we've been sold. It's highly unlikely that it'll get found out on here, TBAR, VT or similar places.
