How much are WBA going for ? Honestly if we are £150m I imagine they will go for about £60m
Reports are that they are going for £150m too. I know...its ridiculous.
That simply can't be correct ?! Tinpot pile of shite club like that !

Is Carson Yeung allowed to own two clubs?

Smethwick expect to be sold by end of month according to Peace.

The 'big news' that we were waiting for turned out to be that they are in an exclusivity period, like we're reported to be. The difference is that they have officially announced it.

So why haven't we?
Because we're not media whores who do their business in public?

or maybe because you don't announce something that isn't happening, just a thought

Dave's right, this would fall under UEFA's CFP ruling (comedy fair play). This was bought in to protect comedy, piss poor outfits from losing their heritage and falling prey to professionalism and success.

Just wondering if it was a legal requirement or summat.

Fair enough. Couldn't resist the chance of a cheap shot at that lot.

Don't know how they're structured, but I think that they're privately owned by Peace, presumably through some limited liability holding company.

As they wouldn't have any shareholders to inform, I don't see why they would need to blab about it, unless they are media whores who like doing their business in public.

Anyway here's hoping their consortium comes complete with an over mortgaged hairdresser. (crosses fingers that Randy is playing the good custodian on our takeover.)

'Over mortgaged hairdresser' made me smile.

Coffee and a chat with Tom Fox at VP. Some very exciting developments at our club in the coming months. #UTV
Probably along the lines of "we're going to give the place a lick of paint."  I just can't imagine Tom Fox giving a pundit the heads up on anything of importance, even if he is a fan.

Be nice if he could drag himself away from his cosy chats with Stan to tell us what the story is with Delph.

What possible benefit would we get from advertising Delph's contract situation?

I don't know if this is for real but apparently Stan tweeted then deleted this:

'Not physical infrastructure. Investment in talent. People. #UTV #AVFC'

When asked if his original tweet was refering to a refurbishment of the north stand.

So maybe that's the difference then, although as a limited liability company, isn't it a closed circle of shareholders, thus negating the requirement to make a public statement?

I might be (and probably am) talking out of my posterior but I thought that it was only PLCs that were required to make those kinds of statement to the stock market they're trading on.

I still prefer it being that they are media whores etc.

Exactly right, private companies as we are now, can do or say as much or as little as they see fit to disclose.  A Plc has to announce to the stockmarket anything material that may have an effect on its share price such as takeover discussions.  From a cursory glance at Companies House, there's more than one entity in the WBA structure, but they all appear to be private limited companies.

Its hard to understand why the Baggies takeover seems to be going so quickly ......when as we know the bigger club just seems to be going nowhere in the takeover ......

The way its looking at the moment what assets on the playing side will be there if a takeover does happen?

Well based on Risso's answer, they didn't need to make a statement, just as we don't.

Given that the one constant throughout Randy's tenure has been an almost impenetrable shroud of secrecy with anything to do with financial dealings, the possibility that there actually is a deal going through is at least as plausible as big all is happening.

Anyway they're still media whores who do their business in public.

Time will tell if Randy has decided whether it's time to shit or get off the pot. (Or if he's still wiping up from a very messy follow through)

Not sure that we're going nowhere with regards the takeover. My understanding is that a potential buyer was given 6 weeks exclusivity on or around 8th June. 6 weeks from that date takes us to the 20th July. I'm still hopeful we'll hear something soon but if nothing materialises by 20th July I'll start to worry then.

In the meantime there seems to be funds available to improve the squad so assets on the playing side seem to be developing as well

Their takeover appears to be going through more smoothly as they've recently been telling anyone who'll listen what's going on. We don't know when Peace actually started looking for a buyer, but I refuse to believe that he put the club up for sale at the end of the season and they've got a buyer at exclusivity/due diligence already.
Exclusivity implies at least one more interested party that's been pretty much sorted into the
maybe pile, whilst another continues as preferred bidder.

As mentioned elsewhere, everything we do is shrouded in secrecy, so we could just as easily wake up on Tuesday to find that it's all done and dusted.

With regards the playing side, we appear to be doing a reasonable job of getting rid of those deemed surplus to requirements whilst lining up some interesting replacements. On the playing side it looks like business as usual (apart from spending as much on one player as we did in the whole of last summer and look to be trying to repeat the trick.)

Trouble is a wouldn't class Delph and Benteke as dead wood ........

And who are they now contracted to?

If the £32.5M for Benteke is true, then I don't think he'll be going anywhere.
Liverpool apparently won't pay the money, and none of the top 4 look interested / need that type of forward.
No one else in England can realistically afford him, and it's a limited pool away from England that could do the deal, and he's probably not enough of a trophy signing for the those that could finance it.

Delph?

If the £8M release clause was true, I'd have thought that any interested party would have that sorted nice and early to:
1.Make sure that they got first shot at an easy target.
2. Clear the decks for the legal eagles for any more complicated deals later I'm the window.
