I'm appreciative of all this finer detail, it's pretty interesting. One thing that others may be able to explain, and it may be obvious, but is due diligence a reciprocal procedure? I'm wondering if it's a case of 'well, they've met the asking price' or if Lerner will have looked at their financial capabilities as regards taking the club forward. A big fear of mine in this period is that we get a new owner (or owners) who have to scrape together the cash to buy the club without having any means of putting cash into transfers further down the line.

That was my fear with the Paul Smith consortium.

As the players are assets I wonder what their book values are down as ? Clearly CB9 is our biggest individual asset , possibly worth as much as the ground I'd guess ?

I think one off the bean counting boffins reported that the value of a player in a set of accounts was more in line with the value of his contract still to run rather than his market value.

Yes. His book value will have been estimated when he signed his new deal. So say it was £30m two years ago, and he has two years left, it would now be £15m.

Amortisation, as da kidz say.

Yes but I'd say the two are inextricably linked. Benteke on a 4 year deal may be worth £X whereas with only 2 years left he's worth £Y.
There's also amortisation / depreciation to factor in.

Not just the land though is it? There's an international-class world-famous stadium on it. The new owners will need one of them and if they sell it it will cost a lot more to replace than a centre-forward, however good he is.

Agree. So why are we being sold (if rumours are true ) for a paltry £150m??
The ground is only worth what someone will pay for it.

He's close enough to the deal to know more than anyone else has found out and he puts it out on Twitter, including copies of confidential documents. I'm certainly convinced.
