I can't see randy putting in any more. But with the wage bill now under control and TV money sloshing around we shouldn't need it. I jus my hope he doesn't want any of his money back!

On a related point, the Sevilla team that has just won the Europa league for the second year in a row cost a combined £30m. I know you can't get that value in our league, but still.

No but couldn't we buy a few of them? I remember thinking we should buy about five or six of that young Standard Liege team that almost knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League a few years ago. I don't remember them well enough to know if a few of them went on to achieve much.

Dante's had a good few years at Bayern Munich and was part of that horrible Brazil defence when they lost 7-1 to Germany.

Defour we were linked with forever, Witsel was signed by Zenit for a £30m or so and has just won the league there, Fellaini is still knocking around somewhere. So they basically had the first-choice Belgium midfield from a couple of years ago. Onyewu went to Newcastle then Milan and has just been released by Charlton.

So a fair few of them went on to better and brighter things.

Cheers Dave, would have been a good idea then. And Benteke would love it.

Defour had some injuries, did pretty well at Porto and then made the almost-on-purpose controversial move of joining Anderlecht. He's very much persona non grata in Liege now.

That's putting it lightly.

This is what happened when he went there with Anderlecht recently.

That's Defour's head being help up, of course.

Although I notice they've fucked up that massive banner.

It should be "The Read or The Dead", I believe.

Jack Warner will on Monday make a £200m bid for us with a promise of a £100m transfer budget for this summer.

Some Villa page on facebook said we'd be sold, asked to who wouldn't answer so unfollowed. Not much help really but I hope it's true

The potential takeover, and the Benteke sale rumours will no doubt intensify in the next two weeks. This is a relatively short window, so get on with it Randy please.

This is more important than anything at Villa this summer...new owners.

Was talking to a Hereford fan last night and what has happened to them must be heartbreaking if you support them. He has his own business and said over the years he has done many jobs for them where he charged them for his materials but did not charge anything for labour. Randy might not be the greatest thing to ever happen to villa but if/when he does sell I pray it isn't to a bunch of chances/crooks..There are too many bastards out there just waiting for the chance to rip people off.

Interesting thing to say, assuming it is not a misquote.

The Villa boss hinted there would be wholesale changes in the aftermath of the 4-0 defeat to the Gunners, claiming the current squad possesses a "losing habit" that needs to change if the club is to avoid another relegation scrap next year.

"We can spend if I can justify it to the owners," the 46-year-old said. "We can all be mates, all jolly patting each other on the back but I don't think we have a problem with the desire of the group.

"We need to improve and not be a relegation-fodder team, and that will be difficult. You need to add quality and I can improve the mentality of some of them (already here) because it becomes a losing habit and we have been used to losing football matches for far too long."
