TBAR are claiming they called this. Proof? Well they said on 8th August that we had decided on a CEO. No names. #ITK
Why do they torture themselves ? They know full well I broke this news.

They didn't call it, they want people to think they did. I could have typed 'we're talking to a new CEO', bearing in mind we had a vacancy for one.

I know. That was my point. They are desperately deluded.

Cortese was the name they were seemingly in favour of last night before several pages were removed.

To paraphrase Sheryl Crow - If it makes them happy.....

At the end of the day if they want to massage egos by "being first" I couldn't give a monkeys as long as the reported personal abuse has stopped

The important thing from a football perspective is that we're make an appointment to fill a gap that requires filling and the appointee is competent and committed.

If they're playing silly buggers by deleting pages that might suggest they're not quite so ITK, then not only is it amusing then it would also suggest very fragile egos that need maximum massaging.

I'm rarely one to quote from the Bible, but they seem to have nailed this a couple of thousand years ago:

"A time will come when people will not listen to accurate teachings. Instead, they will follow their own desires and surround themselves with teachers who tell them what they want to hear"

Looks a promising sign but surprised more people aren't put off by having another "non-football" man at the top. By all accounts Paul Faulkner did an excellent job commercially at Villa but we've struggled desperately on the pitch.

Surely Fox is coming here as CEO is a bigger job than CFO, not because of any great sign of things to come.

It's all well and good talking about the biggest kit deal,in history.
But, it is Arsenal. Let's face it, had Paul Faulkner been there, he could have done the same deal.
On a completely different scale, but to the same end, PF also got us our biggest ever kit deal !

The little phrase you use there, "But it is Arsenal" sums up the brand they now have.  When I was growing up "Arsenal" was a by-word for dull, stale blandness.  Good CEOs with long term vision allied to a football strategy can change the whole reputation and brand of a club...it's all very well saying "But it is Arsenal" but Fox is one of the reasons behind why you can use such a phrase at this moment in time.

That's what I think. He looks to be a big hitter on the marketing side, similar to the people we hoped Randy was bringing with him in 2006 but the footballing "he talks, they listen" aspect may be missing.

Although he is clearly a cut above the rest and you have to say it's quite a coup for us as a club - I certainly can understand why some people think that him coming could signal something bigger on the horizon. I mean unless the money he's been offered is silly, to a non-fan, Villa are not an attractive proposition when compared with Arsenal. Financially, playing squad, transfer targets, London v Birmingham...

Ah, I love contradicting myself...

Am I right to assume Tom Fox would have been responsible for introducing the most expensive match day tickets in the country? I wonder how he'll react to our prices and the price sensitivity that goes with it. I'm guessing that the days of fans demanding cheap tickets and Randy splash the cash are coming to an end.

Despite Paul Faulkner doing a good job on the commercial side, I'm hoping Fox can improve on it and generate higher revenue for the club's coffers. The last Deloitte report had us bringing in the same commercial revenue as Norwich City, so based on that, it shouldn't be too hard.

As for him being another non-footballing man, I'm not to concerned as I think he's more likely to stand up to Randy the next time he thinks Alex McLeish would make a great Villa manager. I do wonder how Lambert's relationship with Lerner may change and if we'll see something similar to how Faulkner's introduction changed MON's direct relationship with Lerner.

Overall, looks to be an interesting appointment, Fox certainly seems to have a vision and strategic plan, which is no bad thing.
