I don't know much at all about Fox but my guts are telling me that this appointment (should it happen) will be a significant step in in the right direction for the club.  The guy has an impressive CV, no doubt about it, and he will have operated at the very top end of the football/sports industry.  I am cautiously very optimistic.

New owners don't necessarily mean new CEO. The new bloke won't be linked with Randy so he could stay on even if we had a new owner.

But only if the new owners wanted him.

They might want their own management structure in place. If you look at it from the point of view of this guy, I find it hard to believe he'd leave his very-high-up position at Arsenal to come here, if there was even the whiff of a chance of him being out on his arse in the near future due to events beyond his control.

This. Neither would he risk his reputation by coming to a club that is in decline or one without decent backing. I may be wrong but this indicates to me that there us serious money behind this move.

The alternative possibility is that a club with a well regarded CEO might be a better proposition than a club without a CEO of any form, it could be that the lack of a management structure is actually making us a tougher sell.
This.

It appears given our summer dealings so far the Robin Russell has done quite well

Really?

I appreciate the Sanchez deal involved third party ownership so won't have been hugely straightforward, but Richardson, Senderos and Cole were free signings. it's not like we've pulled off a long series of amazing deals somewhere.

My first thought was that it must be part of his job to get us ready/attractive for a sale, with a lovely bonus when it happens.

Yes and no. I'm assuming this guy isn't cheap judging by his cv.
He's either been rubber stamped by the new owner or will be very expensive to remove if not wanted in any new structure.
Third option , Lerner is staying put.

I've no idea whether this means we're close to be sold or if we've never been further away. But it does feel like something is happening. It all feels exciting again somehow.

Hmmm, very difficult to read this one.  He could be the harbinger of new ownership.  It's unlikely that a high profile exec would move with the uncertainty of a sale hanging over the club.  Also, Lerner hasn't exactly had a great record of working with the more high power types, so it could all point to a deal being a good way towards completion.  On the other hand though, Lerner might have belatedly decided to have another crack at things and is putting in place the building blocks to avoid the mistakes of the past.

Which ever of those two options has to be good for us.

Ha! My second though was about Caramacs so I wouldn't pay any attention.

It's interesting certainly and could be interpreted in a number of different ways, hopefully if he comes he'll be a good appointment.

I agree. Here's hoping that things are on the up for us after what has been a very demoralizing few seasons. 3 more points on Saturday and maybe a signing or two will do nicely for starters.
