Of course Hazard is their main man going forward but I'm more worried about Matic against our midfield. We're gonna need KEA and Westwood to play well, otherwise Matic will just dominate them.

I'm thinking Weimann will play deep and hassle their midfield as he did at Anfield - very effectively. He took Gerrard out of the game.

Just read this in the Meaning Evil:-

Aston Villa look to banish horror Villa Park record

Villa Park will be willing the end of a worst record in the history of top-flight football tomorrow.

Yes, even worse than Diamonds Lights by Tottenham’s Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle, which got to No.12 in the charts in May, 1987.

This particular shocking record dates back to the late 1880s and relates to the slim pickings of success on offer at Villa Park in recent seasons – not that the claret and blue faithful will want or need reminding.

Ahead of the visit of Premier League leaders Chelsea tomorrow teatime, Villa have now gone an alarming 69 home league games without celebrating back-to-back home league wins in the same season. It is the longest barren run of its kind by any team in top-flight history – since records began in 1888 – with Blackpool the next worst offenders of all time with 64 games.

Time to put that right then:-

2-1 Villa

Hopefully but I have this horrible feeling Lambert will go with our usual counter-attacking 433. Hope I'm wrong.

He needs to try and find a balance between playing our counter attacking style (which we're good at) and stopping Chelsea playing their normal game. It's a tough call.

on the beeb:
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in his news conference: "I don't want to think about a points target. I just want to think that tomorrow we have a very difficult match. Three points would be fabulous result, one point is not a bad result at Villa Park. We go match by match and after that comes Arsenal."

I'd take a point now...

That is a shocking stat. I suppose most other teams who go that long without back to back home wins get relegated so can't keep the run going.

2-1 for the Villa, Benteke and Bacuna for Villa and Eto'o for Chelsea.

I don't know why but I have a good feeling about this one, which doesn't mean anything unfortunately considering my past history about feelings on some Villa games !
