Last year good friends gave me a copy of the Villa News and Record from 21/23 August 1954 - the first "proper" Villa game played after I was born and with my cousin, Frank Moss Jr, playing centre half against Spuds. (also in the Villa team that day - Harry Parkes, Danny Blanchflower, Johnny Dixon and Peter McParland).

Total surprise, and they had no idea about the Moss family connection!

In the PWS pictures titled "First batch from other pack" who is the Villa player turning away from goal as Andy celebrates in front of the Holte? Looks like Bruce Rioch but surely  he had gone by the time Andy arrived.

Dennis Mortimer.

Yes. It is Mortimer.

Must be against Everton because that's Mick Lyons.

All of the Upper North Stand seats had not quite been installed yet it seems.

Vinyl.  A side highlights from R1 to Semi Final.  B side highlights of the Final.

China. Never used centenary mug, worth more than any of your ming tat.

I haven't played that Villa record in years. If I remember correctly it also has some interviews with the players which I think were done at the civic reception.

I have a centenary mug as well. It survived everyday use in an office full of Wolves supporters for about 10 years, but is now retired, looking a little bit frayed around the edges. A bit like me I suppose.

Damo, I havent played it in years either, I think you're right though.

A Chelsea supporting mate always admires it when he sees it, even he thinks it's a classy bit of memorabilia.

Terrible photo but this on my office wall:

One of my business partners is an Arsenal fan. I occasionally amuse myself by pointing at the picture and then mentioning that he probably won't recognise that thing being hoisted aloft, and offer to explain what it is.

I have got a fantastic picture on my living room wall. Black and white one of the '57 team, manager and trophy. It looks like it is taken at a training ground in front of the changing rooms. I cannot for the life of me remember where or when I got it. I suspect someone gave it to me when I was too young to appreciate it.

I've got one of them.

Is this the mirror? Best picture I could do with my phone. My folks bought me and my sister one when they came out, mine is rather worn on the frame from various house moves etc.

They also got us round mirrors, from the 80s I think, that looked great. Sadly mine got broken in a move years ago.

I had a round one, just the old badge, is that the one you mean? Was a present, probably about 1977 or so. I don't know whatever happened to mine.

LP of the 1971 League Cup Final.
One of only a few recordings of any sort that you can hear a big Villa crowd singing 'Andy, Andy Lochhead in the air'.

Sounds like the one. The lion rampant was in the middle of the mirror.
