Nothing personal ciggies and with every respect but supporters like you deserve to be following Villa in the Championship or lower
Putting "with every respect" doesn't then mean you have the right to say whatever you want afterwards. So drop the unpleasantness.

And you can drop the I am a moderator so I can say what I like to whoever I like.   To suggest that a poster on here has expectations which are a perfect fit with what is going on at the club is not unpleasantness, it is my opinion which is what the forum and your position as a moderator exists to serve.   Ciggies does not expect very much from the team, fine, they do not give very much.   Please treat me with the respect I show to ciggies, if that is not too much trouble.

What's unpleasant about that Dave? It's not directly insulting. I conpletely agree with him for what it's worth. If you don't demand the best in life and push to better yourself, you invariably you will never achieve it.
Ciggies would be with in his rights to say others deserve to be supporting Villa in the championship for trying to get the manager sacked when we need to be pulling together the most. It didn't work for wolves anyway.
It's a message board and only opinions after all. But for me, we have a whiff of Blackburn about  us at the moment, I'm sure even in his darkest hour Steve Kean still had some support in their fanbase

I want the man to do one as quickly as possible, but fall well short of willing us going on a goalless, winless bore-fest for the next few months in order to realise that aim. Having said that, Ciggie and Brian  are fully entitled to their respective positions and I didn't detect a scintilla of unpleasantness in the latter's.

I am very disappointed by results but still want Lambert as manager because I like his signings and see some hope in where he is going tactically.

Not sure I will feel the same way by end of Jan if things keep going this way though.

What could the next two weeks tell you that the last two and a half years haven't?!

A transfer window then a miracle?  ;D

Seriously though? Lambert has pulled tricks out of his hat before. I would like it to happen again.

What tricks has he pulled out the hat though apart from a good win there and there?

For us  at least 3 radically different styles of play and a couple of nice runs out of the blue. For Norwich nothing short of a miraculous turn around followed by a couple of years of unmitigated victory.

My hope is he can somehow, somehow find that last bit again. And yeah I know, its hope at this point. But there you have it.

The greatest trick was Sylla and his complement to the side for the second half of his first season post Newcastle seeing us become a half decent team and getting good results.

The problem is 'a nice run' is normally followed by a bloody horrendous one. We never kick on after a good win or two which is why we've spent most of our time in the bottom half of the table under him.

How many lower or midtable sides manage to win three or four on the spin consistently?

I know. Thats the rub. If he could just follow up his good results by.. well... decent results we would be sitting pretty. So far he hasnt. I am hoping he can get more consistently good.  We will find out, because Lerner aint sacking the man.

Reminds me of the good old days of Coyle at Burnley, Kean at Blackburn, Lambert at Norwich and TSM at Villa. When Glaswegians ruled the Premier League.

We're here to make sure that people are able to post in a polite environment - and saying that he "deserves" worse than you do just because he has a different opinion I don't see as particularly polite.

Personally I feel that in this exchange you are being afforded a good deal more respect than you showed in your original post.

If you want to turn this into a big fight then you can do, and you are more than welcome to send me a PM on the subject. But I don't feel that you are being asked to do a great deal here.

Ciggies would be with in his rights to say others deserve to be supporting Villa in the championship for trying to get the manager sacked when we need to be pulling together the most.

Actually, if he had said that then he'd have been asked to tone it down a bit as well.

We're all Villa fans, we all want to see the best for the club. Saying that other fans "deserve" to see us get relegated because of their opinions doesn't really help anybody.
