As woodhall says, 'When in doubt, blame the fans.'

Once, in a completely different context.

Define serious?

Someone who comes on here to have adult discussions without accusing their detractors of being fickle or not as good a fan as you.

But, I forgot, someone called you a silly name, apologised, deleted it but you're still dining out on the faux outrage.

Anyway, I'm serious too so I won't be replying to the silly response I suspect you'll be making to this

It would appear anyone who shows any enthusiasm about his club or support to PL is instantly labelled as such, gang mentality.

The size of the crowds is the bigger embarrassment.

Our away support is second to none, but a VP it is one of the worst atmospheres, due to lack of numbers and the Trinity Road fans.

UTV

That a massive amount of fans are fickle.

From MON's last year we're now putting up with our 6th consecutive season of poor football at home. The average crowd had gone above 40,000 before that. Maybe if we had a decent product to watch they'd come back?

You have just proved my point.

What, that our fans aren't stupid?

I'm not being funny asking this, but how old are you?

What on earth does my age have to do with anything?

If it helps my first Villa game was in 1985.

I asked your age because I wondered if you were a bit younger than me, and from personal experience it's possible that one's commitment to following the club may waver a little once you get married, kids, mortgage etc.

But you're not, you must be around the same age as my first game was the year before.

I was hoping it might lead to an interesting debate, then I read your comments about 'the gang' and thought fuck it, he's a tool.

Indeed, but I think it also has application in the context of this particular discussion.

Again, as a Lambert supporter I have the gang on me.

No doubt you'll be able to fend them all off, what with you being a superfan and everything. Surely you've got matching superpowers to use with it?

Once again Westley stop assuming you're getting abuse because you're pro-lambert, you're not.  You're getting abuse because you can't comment without making out how better a fan you far and how anyone who disagrees with you is fickle or a laptop warrior.

If you want to have a decent discussion about being pro-Lambert then carry on, give your reasons and expect people to disagree bu start acting like a grown up when you do it and stop calling people names because you do yourself no favours on here with that nonsense.

I used to love going, my enthusiasm has really dropped the last couple of years, My wife offered to buy me a £15 ticket for the saints game, I told her to save her money!

Sums it up really

"A massive amount of fans are fickle"

Do you include yourself, the fan who promised earlier in this thread never to set foot in Villa Park again if Pullis took over as manager

"through thick and thin", you also said, when you were trying to one-up yourself against a more serious poster

Did you ever explain that Westley? Because that Pulis comment was incredibly fickle of you. I remember thinking 'well that devalues most of what he said'... Obviously with more swear words.

On the home fan front, I've been to plenty of away games with the villa (i have cape and big S for proof) and can guarantee that 95% of home fans are 'shit' in the top flight. We, like the rest, predominately only 'sing when we're winning', and therefore not often. Away fans are always louder because it's a day out, a jolly up, whoever you support.

95% of the top flight clubs would not have 25% of their total gate missing for a Sunday home game v Spurs.

Exactly.

It isn't your pro-Lambert stance (you're not the only one), it is your somewhat condescending assumption that:

1. Anyone who is dissatisfied with Lambert isn't supporting the club
2. That you occupy some sort of superfan pedestal which we all need to look up to.
3. You can argue your point by just calling people "laptop wankers"
4. That the people here are not, in many cases, also the people who go to matches, home and away.
5. That the away support is holding up whilst the home support doesn't is in some way saying something about belief in Lambert (it isn't).

It is nothing to do with your opinions, it is all about the condescending way you put them across.

We've seen the "better fan than you" routine on here plenty of times before, and it is the sort of thing that doesn't get put up with for very long.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but I have just had a call from the AV ticket office offering me (I think) a one off season ticket for £10 plus free AVTV for a month and special deals on home and away tickets etc I declined asking the lady to call back once Mr Lambert was gone, she appologised, I went on to explain I had been a season ticket holder for donkeys years and our football was not good she appologised again and thanked me for my feedback. Poor woman.

95% of clubs aren't in the grip of a four-year austerity drive, and don't boast an incredibly poor home record over the same period.

Look, folk have different reasons for not going. For some it's the cost, for some it's the shite served up, for others it's the sense that the game is rigged and we're just seen as revenue streams to be pumped as hard as possible, for you it's appointing a manager you don't fancy.

SGT summed it up for me last night on BT Sport. They were talking about Stuart Lancaster losing five games in a row. The anchorman asked SGT what a similar record would generate in football. "He would be out of a job" came the immediate reply. He loves the Villa too much not to have thought of us when he said that.

Come trolls, come mischief makers, come wind up merchants and superfans, against all the laws of good sense, Lambert defies it all and continues to go again.
