I think people writing Lambert off are missing the point slightly.

I can't believe that after the horror show that he has displayed this season (with all the worst records ever) there are still people that want him in. After an occasional win after a team focused only on the FA Cup final.

We know Lerner is the real problem at Villa, but Lambert has played his part in it as well. The awful records he's broke, the Cup defeats from lower league clubs, the turgid dreadful football etc etc. No, he has to go. No more false dawns. Lambert out!

Did he come out for the lap afterwards? What was the reaction to him like?

Now, if your relationship with the fans is that broken, do you really expect to keep your job? I can't believe he really expects it to work out.

I guess it depends why he didn't. And I don't know 100% he didn't, just going by what someone else said.

No and he didn't acknowledge fans who clapped him down the tunnel. Struck me he looked a goner but we'll see.

I was standing above the tunnel and he got a good reception .

I couldn't see him. Was that Lowton's youngest, the tiny one who ran into the goal?

I think Lambert definitely has to go still. One win against a side we should be beating doesn't change that. It does seem as if he'll be on his way. It all points to that.

I don't think Randolph loosening the purse strings a little bit will make that much different to Lambert. What we need is a manager with more strings to his bow. Lamberts good at the arm round the shoulder stuff and getting effort out of his players, but tactically is more often than not, clueless. I'm not sure he has a clear vision of how he wants this club to play, or even if he does, how to achieve that. What he initially promised when he took over, he's been unable to deliver.

Nobody would bat an eyelid if we lose our last two.

That happens we could easily finish 17th as Sunderland can get 4 points from their last two, WBa would need 2 draws and Hull would need a draw.

17th is not a final position any Aston Villa manager should be surviving.

That's true Tom, but neither should we be paying peanuts wages on unproven players, and trying to get by on a bloody shoestring for nigh on four seasons.

I'm a bit torn at the minute. If there's new investment, then he should move on, but if not I'd still keep him.

Agreed. He deserves one more chance.

If there isn't any investment, and if the current financial regime continues, then it won't make a huge difference if we change manager.

I do wonder, though, whether there is now a credibility gap between Lambert and the fanbase, and if it is possible to survive that.
