Unless we go down my hunch is he will get the summer but we will need to show a marked upturn otherwise that will be his last transfer window.

I agree with you, Chris and it would demonstrate a knee jerk reaction from Lerner leaving us with a very limited pool to find a better manager, not that it's impossible but it hardly brings the much needed stability that so many seem to value. For me, the summer is the best time to find a replacement.

Additionally, I'd imagine Lambert (and his staff) will have signed a new contract(s) extension which would mean sacking him in next season a very expensive exercise.

Sacking him will mean them tacitly admitting that they have got three successive appointments wrong. No organisation wants that.

Only by the most cynical Lerner haters. Houllier was down to illness, McLeish they it got wrong and Lambert did his job under strict financial limitations, keeping us up whilst bringing in a talent of young, promising players is how I'd spin it.

All would soon be forgotten/forgiven should Lerner appoint the right man. I'd be more concerned with being known as the owner that pays out the best compensation in the Premier League than the owner that has a mixed record of managerial appointments, as I'm sure his bank manager would agree.

It's McLeish, not McCleish. Sorry, but it really irritates me!

Even our board must know that there isn't any rational person on the face of the earth that truly believes they know what they're doing in football terms. It's beyond the stage of letting the cat out if the bag, they are absolutely clueless.

I don't even think we have to spend too much money to move to the next level.

We're only four or five wins from 8th to 10th place. The next logical step to where we should be aiming for. (Rome wasn't built in a day and all that).

Alas it has to be with a different manager and I'm just hoping the winning formula is found in the summer.

Over and (Lambert) out.

So, taking Lamberts quotes at face value, and you believe he really doesn't have a lot to do with the day to day coaching at Bodymoor, then surely the man has to realise his buddies Culverhouse and Karsa really aren't doing him any favours at all.

If he really wants to save his skin he could do worse than fuck them off and create a new backroom team.

I'm thinking proven coaches like Steve Clarke, John Gregory or Carlos Queiroz rather than guys like Sid or Martin Laursen.

But that's the reality. There is no way Lambert's tenure can be seen as anything other than a failure.

Unwanted records, massive losses on players' value, falling attendances...

Is Lambert out of contract at the end of the season? In which case we don't need to sack him?

Seems no point in sacking him now - although I would in the Summer - as who is likely to come in to the job with six games to go.

Something else thats bothered me in the last few days, and thats the speed at which Kevin MacDonald left after Lambert arrived.  Was it his own choice?  Or did Lambert usher him out the exit knowing how popular he was with the players and possibly seeing him as a threat?

He's made me spend two hours feverishly hoping that Tottenham fucking Hotspur win a football match. For that alone, I wish him gone.

I would hope that is the least of their concerns. I want Lambert to stay but Faulkner and the board should have no illusions that fans have any belief or regard for their footballing judgement nor should them looking even more foolish have any bearing on the matter.

Lambert has had an up and down (mostly down) couple of seasons. Faulkner and the board have demonstrated years of incompetence.
