Sounds like lambert is out the door after the final whistle of the spurs game.

Just about to be on SSN talking about this week. From what he said a few minutes ago, I heard, 'no comment' re the terrible two and that he had made the decision to promote Sid and Shay 'very quickly' .

I don't think I've ever watched SSN on a weekday afternoon before!

And if anybody else just watched that interview, I don't think he's going to be with us for a lot longer.

' Have you got the support of the owner?'
'Football apart he's good to talk to...but everybody knows what football is like.'

They normally put the Thursday press conference up on AVTV so it might be worth a watch.

Didn't realise, thanks.
We may be feeling more positive following the coach cull (and so might the players) but I have to say that PL came over as a man who was struggling for words, at times. I know he's not the most sparkly of performers but I was a bit taken aback at the rather depressive tone of his responses to the questions.  Didn't even hear, 'We go again.' Perhaps he said it later.
Strikes me as the kind of person who can't hide his true feelings.
Going back to last season I said to a mate that watching Lambert do interviews through that really bad period frightened me a bit - looked like he was ready to do himself in or run away down the street screaming "I can't take it anymore!"
Once we started to get some of those good results his mood improved markedly - positive, even perky, but not quite eloquent!
Stating the obvious somewhat, but he's definitely showing the signs of being under pressure.
From our point of view and his own interests, I'd hope for some perkiness to reappear ASAP and hopefully after the match on Saturday.  Maybe he'll outlast May.  UTV!

Based on the press conference? He did sound moody, but then again maybe he was just shattered after all the laughter he did in training.

I just watched most of it, and he didnt look any surlier or moodier than usual, tbh.

You watch more of them than I do, probably, so that is good news!
Having seen the photos of training, Monty's theory sounds plausible.

Listening to R5 earlier, hearing Lambert interviewed by Pat Murphy, my sympathies were with Lambert. Murphy's interview style tonight reminded me of Bill O'Reilly on Faux News.

I'm not overly fond of Patrick Murphy but he's the only journalist with the bottle to call Lambert out on stuff to his face and ask him questions we, as fans, want answered. The rest are a load of meek shysters.

Pat Murphy likes putting the boot into Villa though because Randy Lerner's takeover meant he actually had to work for a Villa story.

Do you know roughly what time, or between what hour the interview was broadcast? Tricky to find on i-player otherwise.

I really don't think even Paul Lambert is daft enough to answer questions that could potentially land him in the legal shit. The interview was probably around 7.15 or so. I only remember because of being in my rightful place in the kitchen, doing all kinds of wifey type things like unloading the dishwasher.

Ta. Think I've found it on the daily podcast. Hope you emptied the dishwasher in time for Corrie...though it's Thursday, isn't it..

Re Lambert and Murphy, I was talking more generally. When Villa have played crap at home (the games Murphy covers for 5Live), he isn't afraid to question Lambert about it.

No he's not. I remember the interview he did with Lambert after the Newcastle home game last season when Murphy tied Lambert up in knots. Murphy doesn't seem too concerned that Lambert might refuse to talk to him like he did with Mat Kendrick at one point last season.

Pat Murphy has a hundred other things to talk about than Villa so being blanked by the manager wouldn't affect him anywhere near like it would Mat.

I'm with you - granted he was sychophantic to MON but then so are most journalists and pundits. Overly long.

Rather him interview Faulkner and ask him some proper questions rather than Tom from which we got the memorable pearl of wisdom '...we are going in the right direction...' which seemed to amount to preparations in place for Lambert being offered a contract extension when not in control of playing or tactic matters as it turns out and when we were (are) not safe from relegation.

Just listened and in true style he did grill Lambert on what has happened this week, and Lambert, as you'd expect, batted back the "I respect your job is to do this but I can only talk about football" line which is fair enough.
But, just at the end, when Lambert appeared to be opening-up and talking about how, whatever happens with the football he thinks Randy a decent guy, the interview stops! Grr...
