The board will never turn on him though - they're determined to see the best in him and they will. The highs this season have been high, and they'll forget how low the lows have been because they don't want to be wrong about this manager. The City and Chelsea wins were too good, and today's abjection too glibly explained away by high-profile injuries, that they will take Lambert's side with the amnesia of a desperate wife ignoring her husband's affairs. The time is up - but nobody at the club has realised it.

Get him out and leave Cowans to scrap for the remaining points.

He has GOT to go after this. I'd rather we had no manager at all.

I think I'd agree with that.

It's easy to look at the result, then look at the team and the injuries and underestimate this, but this was a truly, truly terrible performance, just abysmal.

Time to get the banners out and push him out the door. We've been the most forgiving fanbase for two years. There's been great support for the mumbling bumbler and it's about time for him to fuck off.

Nothing too fancy. Lambert out will do.

I'd give it to Sid and let him see us over the line. He can't do any worse. If we went down it wouldn't be on him but honestly, we look wretched under Lambert. We've had maybe half a dozen decent games this season but the rest has been woeful.
Poor signings, the worst squad I've ever known us to have by far, in the 24 years I've followed the Villa.

I would definitely go with this. Enough is enough.

Oh good, we finally seem to have some consensus, it's taken a long long time.

I'm all for stability and giving managers time which is why I've been against sacking him, but fuck me, when the shittest side in the League comfortably do the double over you it's probably time to piss off.

Look at our squad, a lot of which he's assembled now. It's absolutely devoid of quality, it''s terrible.

He's not going anywhere.

He is doing enough for them. So long as we don't get relegated, they're happy with him.

That's their considered opinion of what is acceptable for the club. Between them, and this manager, they're wringing the life out of this club.

It's all well and good banging on about injuries - which he will - but injuries happen, that's why you have a squad, and our squad is fucking awful - that is a squad which he has built. It is also a squad which, with far fewer injuries, has looked equally poor throughout this season.

There is not a team in this league who would not have beaten us today, we were so pathetic.

He's going nowhere, though, so it's going to be like it or lump it.

I understand what he has been asked to do, and I appreciate the process that's in place to allow him to do it. But it cannot and should not be this bad. This is utterly horrendous and it shows no signs at all of getting better. Time and time again we have a good result followed by a series of complete mind bogglingly poor ones. How does a team (manager and players) go from a near perfect game vs Chelsea to what we have seen since. It defies any logic at all. I'll always contend the players have a major role to play in this, but the buck stops with the manager. His time is up.
