In pretty much any profession any one with his record of failure and under achievement would have lost their job. There is a good reason for this being the case.  I want him gone because I don't believe he is a good at his job.

We've had 27 managers (ignoring arguments about what the role of manager meant in the early times).

Only 7 of them had a worse win ratio than Lambert has (31.7%)

He is incredibly fortunate to still be in a job. Since he has been there, he has had four or five periods where he has put together a run which would have got almost every other manager in the top flight sacked, yet he has done it several times and is still here.

I'd love him to bring about some massive, lasting sign of improvement. The idea of poking around for another manager whilst we burn money having achieved nothing is not something that I would like us to get involved in.

I even like the bloke personally, I think he realises what a good job he has. He must certainly realise how lucky he is to still have it. However, without him making that improvement, it is all for nothing.

Despite all that, I just can't see it happening. We've put together a more acceptable handful of results, so what happens next? What usually happens is we put together a run of dreadful results whilst playing mind-bendingly shit football.

That's the bit he has got to change, to make improvement more than just a passing phase we've stumbled upon.

Three coincidences with our new playing style:

1. Keane leaving
2. Lambert visiting guardiola
3. Fixtures getting easier

I'm all for it. Though I can see us coming unstuck at some stage (and trying to out-swansea swansea would be a mistake)

But I think the big question mark is - why now? And what the fuck was the plan up to now? And why did Lambert never previously admit that we were a direct, reactive, defensive side? But now openy talks about a new style.

To me, it brings us closer to where I hoped we were heading at the end of his first season.

I think today will be interesting in respect of seeing how lambert approaches this game and also just about where we are now as a "footballing" side . Swansea are the Barcelona of South Wales and if we approach this game wrong it will be a painful 90 mins (see last seasons corresponding fixture).

He says "I've always done the tactics" - there you go; sums it up.

The Barca of South Wales?

And we all know who the Barca of the West Midlands is,
Even though they currently reside 3 points below us in the table

From possession doesn't matter to ''always try to dominate the ball''. He is a chancer. It's pretty clear now it was him and his thinking that has held this set of players back.

'Chancer' sums him up perfectly.  He makes it up as he goes along.

I've always thought he runs the club well but the team less so.

I welcome the change in footballing tactics and if the assistant coach is brought in to suit this new philosophy then I'd be happy to give them more time.  But you've got to ask what the tactics were before and why the new approach was not adopted earlier?  Especially having played such good stuff at the end of his first season.  As ever, he seems to have stumbled across this style having had the good fortune to be invited to Bayern rather than a strategic decision on his part.

I have wanted him gone for some time. Nothing has happened to change my mind, although I will admit the Man U performance was good.
And that just about sums things up.
One decent performance every now again does not make up for the soul destroying, negative football that goes before...and yes, that includes the Palace and Leicester games despite the results.

Even last week v yanited , he took cissoko off for nzogbia which sums his random / ad hoc approach to games up. I want him to succeed for sure but I just think it will continue to be a roller coaster with this charlatan driving the bus. Next stop, who knows ..

Yes agreed, he's most certainly a chancer. And yes, he most certainly has a budget. And yes, keeping us up is about the summit of his and Lerners ambitions for us.

I've agreed with your statement on 3 counts, I must go for a lie down.
