Dreadful game against a dreadful side. A gift of a goal. Sunderland had most of the ball, but we had a lot of chances. I'm not sure either side could say they deserved 3 points today given how dire they both were, but we really needed that win going into 2 very hard fixtures.

We now have a couple of weeks to work hard on the training field and hopefully add a couple of decent signings, because we desperately need some composure, experience and quality in the side.

Likewise, Benteke just needs to have a bit of time of and get his head straight. If he was at his best, on form he could have had 3-4 goals today.

woefully wasteful. I fear had that been anyone but sunderland we would be rueing a 2-1 defeat now.

We desperately need to get back to passing the ball. I just cant believe how bad we are in possession.

A needed three points

And finishing. Benteke, Alby & Delph could all have killed the game but seem to have lost any ability to shoot properly.

In before  eastie.

lol. Lucky win for Villa, wasted so many chances which on another would cost us points.

Weimann and Benteke were awful, Albrighton needs to start against Arsenal.

Well I never. Absolutely delighted with that, not least since we're a terrible, terrible football team. Thankfully, Sunderland are worse. Massive three points.
Sunderland worse? Don't let the score fool you. They outplayed us and throughout but were equally wasteful, and had a perfectly good goal disallowed.

I thought we played well to be honest, should've a lot more, Great defending from Bardsley for one, incredibly lucky save from Mannone for another and Alby and Delph both missed sitters.

I thought Benteke shows flashes of his best form, he was very good at times.  Lowton did very well when he got moved into the middle, we really need cover in the centre of defence though.

COMPOSURE is the big word for me today....something the manager, coaching staff and the players themselves need to rectify

Huge relief and a massive 3 points. Really thought we'd concede near the end especially when 5 minutes ET became nearer 7 (and should only have been 2 mins technically for 4 subs, but Jones worried about Poyet complaining).  Please Lambert start with Albrighton not Weimann in future

Anyone know what's up with Vlaar now?  Hope it's just precautionary, he's going to need his own medical wing at Bodymoor at this rate.

Sunderland had a lot of the ball and did fuck all with it. One shot on target. Our problem remains that we keep giving the opposition too much of the ball. That simply has to change.
