Plus, really, is there a better named football club in the world. It just has grandeur. Oh how I would love a team on the pitch to match the wonder of the name.

I would imagine Villa paid for the lighting. The council has not got a pot.

The council approached us so we wouldn't have paid and anyway, isn't it all computerised or something?

I can't help thinking the blue is the wrong shade.

and the claret looks like the claret used in that awful shirt with NTL as the sponsor. Faulkner out.

so when they crow we have the name of the city it is as hollow as their support due to it being based on being a shitty little club acting under hand in the first place

I take childish pleasure in reminding then that Bordesley, the birthplace of Small Heath Alliance, was once part of the parish of Aston.

Of course it is, it will have cost pretty much nothing.

Like when they turn Selfridges green for St Patrick's Day or pink for Pride.

Surely a museum would be worthier of those colours?

Jealousy can be a wonderful thing. It's a library with a few lights on, lads...!

When the opposition fans sing, "Is this a library?" our more vocal contingent can reply with, "The library is ours, the library is ours, we're Aston Villa, the library is ours." Or something.

Really is worrying that they have such little perspective. Pillocks.

It's not as though anything is happening at the clubs they get paid to write about is it?

Someone should respond saying the plan is to light it up green for a month afterwards in honour the 2 other teams in the city.

With Twattum using the term, "self - aggrandisement" in his tweet, can you imagine Big Barry Austin trying to get into the library to find a dictionary?
Don't fancy his chances on the escalator.......
