My wife loves it. Her first game was the Everton 3-3 draw back in 2009 iirc.

BUT...

- I can't wear a footy top if we're not in walking distance of the ground as she thinks it's chavvy. If you can't wear them on match days, when can you?
- The pre-match booze is cut to a minimum.
- And I can't travel to the Villa on me own or friends anymore. She thinks it's just an excuse to get plastered.

Poor old me.

What the actual fuck?

Completely agree, if you want a drink, then fucking drink. If you want to wear claret and blue, wear claret and blue. Don't get dictated to.

Although personally I am like Irish villain, any event I've paid for, be it footy, concerts, theatre etc i don't drink. I've been with people who don't remember anything from a concert, well that was worth £50.

Relax lads, she's not THAT bad. She bought her 6 months old godchild a Villa kit. It wasn't even my idea! And I still get to drink my cans of lager, do wear my Villa stuff over here from time to time but it's just not the same anymore as in the old days as a single. You know...

Oh, another small issue I've got with her is that she still loves that weasel Downing. Argh.

So  going to a game with a girl  would mean  it's mandatory to drink alcohol?

I've warmed to him after Liverpool gave us 20M for him and he was absolute shite.

I took my then girlfriend, a Spaniard,  in the Holte End, early 90s, can't remember which game.   She spent the whole match watching and being highly amused by the crowd rather than the game.  She was especially enchanted by the songs, especially "we are top of the league"  (guess it must have  been the Big Ron era).  She spent the rest of the weekend singing "yes we are, top of the league" in some strange little tra- la-la tune she'd made up, and demonstrating (to my Mother amongst others) that she now knew what the wanker sign meant.  My wife has never really expressed any interest in going.

My wife isn't keen on football at all and the only time I took her to the Villa (when we moved back up here 4 years ago) she was more amused by the accents and general moaning in the Trinity. She also asked after 30 mins "which one is Villa?" To be fair she also hated having to go to some matches in London with work on corp hospitality and they were all Arsenal/Man U type games.

I went out with a girl years ago (was living in London at the time) who went the other way. Never been to a football life in her match and we stood in the Holte End (she was tiny - 5 foot). She loved it. Went round her house not long after and she had Villa posters up in her bedroom and she gave me a blow job wearing nothing but a Villa shirt whilst her Mum and Dad were downstairs watching TV.

Are you sure it wasn't her Mom that gave you the blow job ?

A few years ago I took my ex to Villa - Watford. itwas when the had comeback up under SGT.

Anyway, we left the Ruskin Hall and got in roughly bang on kick-off. 5 minutes or so later the conversation went something like this...

her: Pete. PETE.

Me: Hmm (not listening. We're on the attack)

H: PETE

M: (Still not listening and barely acknowledging her) Hm

H: PETE (ball rolls over the dead ball line for a goal kick."ooooh" cry the crowd.)

W:What?

H: Have they started yet?

I could only look at her in a you what? Confused but ahh bless type way,and open my arms imploringly at what was taking place a for our very eyes.

Taken the then girlfriend and now wife to Fulham away (Angel kept missing penalties) and although bored she got into it for thelast 10 minutesand admitted to a bit of excitement. Palace away (0-3) reaffirmed her hatred. And finally the arsenal 2-0 (never did ask why Barry didn't take the penalty - oh, and cheers Lee!!!). The last one she enjoyed (ish) - mymate dropped out lastsecond and so she waspress ganged to go. Into the west endfor a good night out around me getting peed and her going out darncing whilst I happily imbibed and danced like your dad at a wedding.

Ah, football and women.

Oh, and I'll absolutely will never, ever, talk to a woman about football. I just can't take them seriously.
