Fabulous and sorry to say it but fuck you Pat Murphy for writing Villa off on R5 after 10 minutes.

I did after 56 mins to be fair -  but fair play , they got stronger as the game went on .

I had literally forgotten the last time we scored direct from a free kick. If Bacuna can produce a few more of those, he'll be worth his weight in gold.

Ashley Young vs.... Sunderland/Stoke/Bolton (?) I think in the Houllier season. Solano and Staunton used to score them too.

N'Zogbia against West Ham last season.

Anyway fantastic win for Villa. Didn't expect that one bit but will take it every day of the week.

The San Andreas fault got papered over today

That's true to a degree, but you need to a consider that we had several injuries. The second half was better, we tried to play it on the deck(which resulted in two goals) and we pressed better. There's no doubt we need more quality on the ball, but we showed great character and also I don't think Lambert would set up a team like that if we had everyone available.

Just think lambert got it right with no gabby , ok ore ,benteke and Westwood. That's like United losing RVP, vidic , Rooney and carrick . We not shit and won and beat a team that destroyed Man U. Enjoy the moment

That bug eyed fool Moyes means that we still won't be first on Match Of The Day.

I'm pretty sure we will be 1st on motd but those tossers at sky have gone with Man U as game of the day - fools.

I have to cook my wife's birthday dinner so that's a relief. Chinese and then sticky toffee pudding. Oh hang on, I have't got SKY anyway...

may I add, for those not watching on dodgy streams, If you doubt for a second Trevor Francis is a complete and utter t##t, don't. I have never shouted so many profanities at a laptop in all my days

As you all know this is a massive result. Looking at the squad in terms of age and experience, the first 6 fixtures were always going to be a struggle. In fact going into today I thought we looked like a team that had gone 8 rounds with Ali. And in football terms we had. Looking at the fixtures I thought we would be somewhere between 4 and 7 points. As it is we have 9 and have more points and A BETTER GOAL DIFFERENCE than MAN U. I think the confidence from this result without,  Gabby Jores and Christian, will  be massive.
I know some could have played better this season, but there is always the pressure of a young kid or coming to a new country or just the step up. So fair play to all of them

Ridiculous.  When the second City goal went in I thought the players' heads would drop.  Fair play.  I'm stunned.

Not to mention the fact that we were playing against (I think) the most expensively assembled team in the league's history. They were always going to have more possession / chances, but the key is we took the chances we created. 4 shots on target, 3 goals. Wonderfully clinical.

Andi will gain great confidence from getting our winner too. Shocked, what a truly bizarre end to the game

No Gabby. No Benteke. No Westwood. No Lowton. Who needs 'em??!! And my heartfelt thanks go to the Holte, for collectively sucking in a goal for the first time in long, long while. Still can't believe it went in. And I reckon KEA's sat in the dressing room still convinced he was offside. Roll on MOTD!!
